Top Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin argued in the New York Times this week that Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito could, in theory, be forced to step down from cases related to the January 6 Capitol riots.
In a guest essay for the New York Times on Wednesday, Raskin detailed ways Thomas and Alito could be forced to recuse themselves from the upcoming Trump v. United States and Fischer v. United States, both involving former President Trump's role during the Capitol protests.
"Of course, Justices Alito and Thomas could choose to recuse themselves — wouldn’t that be nice? But begging them to do the right thing misses a far more effective course of action," Raskin wrote.
Alito and Thomas, both nominated by Republican presidents and part of the Supreme Court's conservative wing, have come under fire from Democrats and mainstream media in recent months over claims that they cannot objectively rule on matters around Jan. 6.

Raskin desperately needs the John Adams remedy.
It involves caulking tar, chickens and fence rails.
Well, they’ve already destroyed the rule of law in the sham Trump “case”. Why not go after SCOTUS next? And it was so easy for them because our republican leaders sit on their hands the whole time. But at least they get invited to the after parties...
but Merchan was totally objective about Trump. Right?
Excellent point!
“…lawmaker…. Raskin”
I stopped reading right there.
They’re trying to destroy separation of powers.
They certainly hijacked the judiciary, in NY, with the sham trial/conviction of Pres Trump.
This is one of the last steps in the coup against America. Deligitimize the judicial branch. They know that the Supreme Court is the last stop. They are going to compromise it or negate it in any way possible.
Us the Ginsburg rule. She was the darling of the left on abortion and then she got to vote on them in the Supreme Court as as judge. Never recused.
Yes they decide for themselves-with a little influence by activists who doxxed their home addresses and prowled their neighborhoods armed and ready to kill. Thats what happened and these ppl are 100x as angry about Trump s they were about Roe.
Those who have guns can order anyone around.
Force... well that is and interesting word you dirt bag democrats.
I guess they could kill them like they did Scalia.
But other than that, I don’t see how the DOJ could “force” them out.
Or maybe some additional show trials, since Trumps was just the beginning of them.
Time to call this bastard what he is a cheap Soros bought and paid communist.
Support Alito and Thomas, the country is in serious distress, hang the flag upside down.
WELL THEN, I GUESS WE CAN DO THE SAME THING TO ELIMINATE THE HATED RASKIN FROM CAUSING ANY MORE DAMAGE.
IT WORKS BOTH WAYS, STUPID.
One of the most important and primary things Hitler did was to set out to get the judiciary under his control - basically to provide a rubber judicial approval stamp for everything he had planned for Germany.
Here, I think that the DOJ possibly could try to affect the court by charging one or more justices for something, but it would have to be for breaking some law other than not recusing him/herself for a particular case the court might be hearing. They do not have the power of the Constitution on what/who decides a particular case. The only way anyone can affect the ‘outcome’ of any case there is to nominate and approve someone who they’ll believe has the right feelings on various case-types.
He is sendind the threat that something bad...like a swatting with unintended casualties could occur-
The message is not for Alito or Thomas It is directed to Kavanaugh and Coney Barret to comply or face the “whirlwind” has Chuck the Schmuck previously said.....
Raskin is PURE EVIL!
He He He! Good one.
Yet another democrat who thinks the democraps should have dictatorial powers.
Raghead and his new hair plugs are affecting his brain
