Desperate Putin, 70, brings Soviet-era T-55 tanks as old as he is out of retirement to bolster his faltering war efforts – having already raided museums for T-62 models

Russia's president Vladimir Putin, 70, is taking tanks as old as he is out of storage in his desperate bid to crush Ukraine on the battlefield.

A video showing long obsolete Soviet-era T-54B and T-55A tanks - designed to be used in the armies of Soviet tyrant Josef Stalin - on a train carried across Russia, presumably destined for the frontlines of the war, has emerged.

It comes with Putin having already raided museums and storage depots for retired T-62 battle tanks, which halted production 12 years ago.

The geriatric T-54 was originally produced by Stalin after the Second World War in 1946, but Putin seems to be sending to war an updated version from the early 1950s - some 70 years old, the same age as the dictator.

Putin is fond of boasting of the prowess of his military capabilities. However, since his forces crossed the border into Ukraine over a year ago, his armies have been exposed as being outdated both tactically and in terms of equipment.

Their “ good stuff” hasn’t moved- still deployed across Russia’s borders should NATO make a mistake and intervene.

Well yes.

But they are all wrong. There is no right. Biden and Zelensky and biolabs there, and money funneling, ..

Theres no right side here. Not a single person on this is right. They’re all wrong and they are all pushing to start nuclear wwiii.

They all need to go. Biden. Zelensky. Putin. All of them. And if the knobs that replace them keep it up, we replace them too.

What 40mm weapons platform were we using in Afghanistan and Iraq that would use WWII BOFORs shells?

“In this kind of war fighting, even the updated T-55 tanks are pretty darn effective. Especially since the tanks are being positioned as far back as from the front lines as possible. The Russians reputedly have huge ammo stock piles for them.”

Wow!!🏆🏆🏆
A smart, reasoned, debatable (if anyone cares to), position that usually draws attacks against the position (pro Uke or not) instead of the reasons for the position.
Why can’t we have more posts like yours?

There is a clear right here, on many directions, but I prefer the St Thomas Aquinas (look for it in the Summa) definition of a just war. Ukraine was invaded by Russia without justification or moral basis. So Ukraine has the right of it, unquestionably.

To focus on persons is a delusion. Wars are mass events, created by institutions, that are under poor control by individuals. Individuals make good focuses for propaganda, but as I said, this is a delusion. And one started they are maintained by entire peoples. Leaders progressively lose control of their wars, as they become increasingly unable to control both institutions, once in motion, or public opinion. Wars create their own logic and justifications as they go on.

US government and institutional corruption is such that Ukraines contribution to this is trifling. This is, with proper perspective, yet another delusion, based on the blinkers of press (MSM) attention. A case of seeing some leaves and missing the forest.

Well, first, Ukraine is already victorious because there is now no possibility Russia will ever impose its tyranny over free Ukrainians. Ukraine will forever be a European country.

I think you are being extremely optimistic. Unless you can provide proof, it still looks to me as if Russia has the upper hand, even with American & N.A.T.O. involvement.

I think American weakness is very real, as well as, deeply compromised.

We are currently 31.633 trillion dollars in debt. At the end of 2022 the debt was $30,824 billion (30.8 trillion) & 123% of DEBT-TO-GDP ratio. Which means we have added almost another trillion. Debt Clock - US National Debt by Year

In addition, Biden is hollowing out the military with "vaccine" mandates, of those refusing to take the "vaccine". They claim that they have lost no military personnel due to the mRNA rollout, by adverse events or deaths.

I personally do not believe that is a truthful statement. There have been whistleblowers who have come forth saying that it's not true.

They have also been aggressively seeking out & targeting those who support Trump, identifying them and either booting them out, or placing them in dead-end positions.

Lastly, & most importantly, this nation is being led by either complete imbeciles, or traitors. I might even say, personally, both. But I am confident that they are traitors without question.

Though of course the way you state it; no possibility Russia will ever impose its tyranny over free Ukrainians, has a ring of truth to it. If they are free, then Russia was defeated. I still see no evidence that the final outcome will be Russia being defeated, and thus free of Russian tyranny. Either way, China comes out on top.

What about the tyranny of this country, which I see creeping further & further into becoming the reality. Our defeating Russia, would only cement that reality of tyranny controlling this nation. This conflict is a distraction designed to engage the attention of people away from what is happening to our country.

Do you not see that?

Why would they be concerned about Ukraine's sovereignty, & the integrity of their borders, while they could careless about ours?

Now, if you can show me how you can square that circle with a straight face, then I'll concede my argument to be lost.

They may be old but they are still deadly against unarmored and lightly armored vehicles. We lost several V150’s to T55 Main gun kills during the battle of Khafji.
I would not want to go up against ans M1 tank in one but if you use good tactics, good crews good planning and toss in a little luck to be safe, even a T-55 or threecan be dangerous no matter if you had an M1. I often go by the old adage of "no such thing as an obsolete weapon, just change tactics."

Even so, this is a true mess and I think about it where even though my heart is with the Ukraine as to her people and sovereignty, I'm no fan of Zelinksy, no fan of Putin, no fan of any of the leaders on all sides here. If I could wave a magic wand, I'd give the Ukraine 5000 M60 tanks, 500 F-5 jets and 2,000,000 M1 Garands and Henry Rifles and the training support and materials too. The people I feel for are the Ukraine people and even the Russian people who I'm sure many or most see this as a fool's quest, much like Afghanistan a generation ago. We have wicked, corrupt and poor leadership all around. The only thing I agree with Putin on is we in the West are weak, pains me to say that but as much as a scoundrel he is, he is correct on that one.

In the real world, we can't do too much here and although we need to stand up to Putin, we cannot poke The Bear unnecessarily either or worse, back him into a corner. WE have truly little or no interest there.

BTW, Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) was relevant when both Russia & the U.S. were the only nuclear powers in the world. So, MAD is no longer relevant now that more nuclear capabilities exist in today's world, than just Russia & the U.S.

In short, it's an outdated paradigm, and has been for quite sometime now.

The Lockheed AC -130 Spectre gunship. It mounted a Bofors L/60 auto cannon.

This was the same Bofors 40mm L/60 gun used for anti aircraft emplacements on US Navy ships in WWII.

It's a fairly awesome weapon

None of the sides are right. Biden, Putin and Zelensky need to be tried and executed for trying to ignite a nuclear wwiii.

Nuland needs to be tried for overthrowing a legitimately elected government in Ukraine in 2014.

Several Democrats and a few RINOs need to be tried for stealing the elections of 2020 and 2022.

Naw, the principles here are really quite easy -- the large authoritarian dictatorship which invaded it's smaller, more democratic neighbor is as wrong as wrong can be.

Why invade? The large authoritarian kleptocracy of the United States can just overthrow the legitimate government of a smaller country thousands of miles away like Nuland did in Ukraine in 2014.

Got to give the Israelis and some extent the French credit though.

Those M-51’s armed with the French 105mm F1 gun stood up quite well against more modern Soviet built tanks (T-55 and T-62) used by the Arabs.

Israel kept them in service until the early 80’s when the Merkava started to come online.

delta7 Let me remind you they have added four ethnic Russian provinces to the Russian Federation

Have you even read anything delta?

The majority in 4 of the 5 provinces (Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Kherson and Crimea) did NOT consider themselves "Ethnic Russian" -- only in Crimea was that number 54%

..

You have mixed it up with Russian speakers -- there were Ukrainians who had Russian as their primary language - like Zelenskyy himself is a native Russian speaker

Poles remember
1792: the Polish-Muscowite war
1794: the Kosciuszko Uprising
1830-1831: the November uprising
1863: January uprising
1919: the Polish-Soviet war
1939 - the Soviet stab in the back
1944: Soviet perfidy in the Warsaw uprising
1945-1989: Soviet occupation

Imho they need to remember the 1919 Polish-Soviet war as well as the 1605-1618: Polish-Muscowite war.
