What 40mm weapons platform were we using in Afghanistan and Iraq that would use WWII BOFORs shells?
The Lockheed AC -130 Spectre gunship. It mounted a Bofors L/60 auto cannon.
This was the same Bofors 40mm L/60 gun used for anti aircraft emplacements on US Navy ships in WWII.
It's a fairly awesome weapon
