Desperate Putin, 70, brings Soviet-era T-55 tanks as old as he is out of retirement to bolster his faltering war efforts – having already raided museums for T-62 models

Russia's president Vladimir Putin, 70, is taking tanks as old as he is out of storage in his desperate bid to crush Ukraine on the battlefield.

A video showing long obsolete Soviet-era T-54B and T-55A tanks - designed to be used in the armies of Soviet tyrant Josef Stalin - on a train carried across Russia, presumably destined for the frontlines of the war, has emerged.

It comes with Putin having already raided museums and storage depots for retired T-62 battle tanks, which halted production 12 years ago.

The geriatric T-54 was originally produced by Stalin after the Second World War in 1946, but Putin seems to be sending to war an updated version from the early 1950s - some 70 years old, the same age as the dictator.

Putin is fond of boasting of the prowess of his military capabilities. However, since his forces crossed the border into Ukraine over a year ago, his armies have been exposed as being outdated both tactically and in terms of equipment.

You better hope they don’t run out of their antique weapons.... They may have to start using the new stuff. and that won’t be good for anyone.

In the end

I would bet my few remaining years on it

You’d still claim he lost

This is a freeper personality parade

SAM: "I am so tired of people thinking one side here is right."

Naw, the principles here are really quite easy -- the large authoritarian dictatorship which invaded it's smaller, more democratic neighbor is as wrong as wrong can be.

If invaded countries have no right or duty to resist foreign invasion, then there is no right & wrong, and world will soon enough belong to the most aggressive dictatorships.

Well, if we & N.A.T.O. were not providing them ammo, weapons, equipment, & money, it would have been over long ago. That is a fact, and the winner would not have been Ukraine.

Russia & China just might be dragging their feet, to deplete the U.S. & N.A.T.O. of their weapons & ammo stockpiles, and downgrade or destroy the economies of the U.S. & Western European nations. Patiently awaiting for the optimum opportunity to take us out, by using an EMP to take out our eyes & ears, making us extremely vulnerable. Perhaps that's what they were testing with their balloon intrusions. To see exactly how we would respond.

Capture our nuclear weapons, and cobble up the world.

Regardless, our involvement in this conflict will not end well, I suspect. Because, like the economy, those in control in this nation are either completely inept, or they are traitors.

I don't know, all conjecture on my part except for our leadership that is, and apparently other experts don't know either. Because many of them are dumbfounded at the pace Russia has been proceeding. Are they wrong about Russia's capabilities? Perhaps, it wouldn't be the first time our intelligence agencies got it wrong, sadly enough.

Whatever it is, I still doubt Ukraine will be victorious in the end. No matter how you look at it, this was a misadventure that we should not have allowed to progress to the initial invasion to begin with.

HTB: "You have to wonder, who benefits form having the world’s two biggest military empty their arsenals in a war where neither will win but both will be badly hurt?"

Old weapons and ammo are being used up first.
Newer weapons & ammo are still kept in reserve.
Every western nation is rethinking its military budget, some with historically low budgets -- i.e., 1% of GDP -- are doubling them.
New capacity is being added in every country.

So, no matter what happens in Ukraine, the world will be geared up for the next invasion, i.e., Taiwan.

Conventional war with boots on ground in a hostile enemy territory is hard to win no matter how super-power a nation and its military may be. There are never clear or complete victories in conventional wars. Soviet lost in Afghanistan. USA lost in Vietnam and Afghanistan.

They may be old but they are still deadly against unarmored and lightly armored vehicles. We lost several V150’s to T55 Main gun kills during the battle of Khafji.

wardaddy: "Putin could be lounging in Whitehall as y’all fear

But Vlad the Invader is not in Whitehall, he's in Mariupol, which, iirc, was the last major Russian victory, May 20, 2022.

Vlad lost in Kiev, in Kharkiv and Kherson, and has not taken significant new territories since Mariupol.

If the level of Russian destruction of Ukraine is counted as "victory", then Vlad can claim credit for destroying about $400 billion in Ukraine infrastructure and other property, plus maybe 10,000 civilians killed.

So sure, Vlad the Invader has "won" a lot, but the last significant battlefield changes favored Ukraine.

Well, first, Ukraine is already victorious because there is now no possibility Russia will ever impose its tyranny over free Ukrainians.
Ukraine will forever be a European country.

Second, 100% the Ukraine-Russia war is a function of perceived & actual American & allies' weakness.
Strong American leadership (i.e., DJT) would prevent the war or end it before things spiral out of control.

As for Russia & China potentially, "Patiently awaiting for the optimum opportunity to take us out, by using an EMP ", the answer to that is the same as it's been since 1945 -- MAD.
MAD has prevented WWIII all these years and will very likely continue to do so.

If MAD fails, then the human race will not survive in our current form.

No, just a fan of reality. The facts laid out are clear: Ukraine is de-populated, de-energized, de-industrialized, infrastructure absolutely destroyed east of the
Dniepner, currency smashed, and relying on Western welfare for it’s existence.

And somehow the war cheerleaders want me to believe they are winning?
