The Biden administration just won one for the president and his new, fist-bumping pal, the leader of Saudi Arabia.

The Washington Times reported on Wednesday that U.S. District Judge John Bates tossed a wrongful-death lawsuit filed against Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman over the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Wrongful death is a civil matter isn’t it? Does immunity apply to civil matters?

How could an American court have had jurisdiction over this in the first place?

You beat me to it. The lawsuit should have been tossed on the grounds that U.S. courts have no jurisdiction in a criminal matter in Turkey where the victim and the perpetrators were Saudi nationals.

Brandon’s Optics.

What was Trump’s (POTUS at the time) reaction?

Bingo. Filing a lawsuit like this is simple virtue signaling. It had to be a random occurrence, but BeijingBiden actually did something right.

Today, President Biden announced that Brittany Griner, and only Brittany Griner, has been released in exchange for Viktor Bout (the infamous “Merchant of Death” arms dealer).

Although he did not acknowledge their assistance directly, it is reported that Saudi Arabia, specifically the Crown Prince, played a significant role in arranging the exchange.

So you know exactly why the DOJ requested the court case be dismissed.

Mere coincidence, I’m sure. Sort of like the dismissal of that Ukrainian prosecutor at VP Biden’s request.

But he took care of the the LGBTQ+ community, so it’s all good, right?

Notice that gas and oil prices have been dropping of late. I’d say there is some quid pro quo going on behind the scenes.

Your point is well taken, but that may have been baked in the deal.

What is tragic, of course, is that Biden who held a powerful bargaining chip left a retired Marine being held on espionage charges in a Russian prison. I.e., if at all guilty we should expect the Marine was performing dangerous work on behalf of our nation.

The Russians are laughing their asses off: they got their guy back in return for an unimportant doper and still have one of our major players behind bars.

The Russians have exposed our Commander in Chief either as incompetent or treacherous, and it speaks volumes to our operatives and uniformed people in the field.

Khassoggi? He was a Muslim Brotherhood political / intelligence operative using “journalist” as a cover. They deal with such things differently in the Middle East. And inartfully in this case.

Meanwhile no one in our media establishment seems to have had much to say when Erdogan was imprisoning dozens of real journalists and shutting down or taking over their companies.
