Poll: Red wave not likely to wash up on WA shores
Crosscut ^ | July 19, 2022 | by Joseph O'Sullivan

Ared wave that some had forecast for Washington’s midterm elections might turn out looking more like a ripple, according to a new Crosscut/Elway poll.

Key points:

1. The statewide poll of registered voters has Democrats holding a 19-point lead – 51 to 32 – in the generic ballot for Congress. A similar question for the Legislature showed 54% of those polled planned to vote for Democrats while 34% favored Republicans.

2. Those numbers show Democrats are even more popular in Washington state than they were before the previous congressional election in 2020, according to the results of a similar Crosscut/Elway poll fielded in late December 2019.

3. The poll also showed 53% support for reelecting legendary U.S. Sen. Patty Murray (left), D-Washington, with 33% supporting GOP challenger Tiffany Smiley (right) and 15% undecided.

4. Overall, 66% of those polled are confident in Washington’s mail-voting system, with 52% “very confident.”

5. The July poll gives voice to a sour mood, with Biden drawing only a 31% favorable rating. Inslee hovered near his lowest-ever favorable rating, with 40% rating the governor “good” or “excellent.”

The recent Crosscut/Elway Poll was conducted between July 7 and July 11, with a mix of landline, cell phone and online survey questions. It has a 4.5% margin of error at the 95% confidence level. In other words, if the survey had been run 100 times, the results would be within 4.5 percentage points of these results in at least 95 of those scenarios.

Correct. The number of conservative Washingtonians that have moved to North Idaho since 2020 is staggering. By my unscientific measure, there are more of them than Californians. In my church homegroup, out of 20+ folks that regularly attend, 2/3 are from Washington and came here in the last year and a half.

I live in Spokane. Just don’t talk politics to most friends.
Every time that stupid ugly Murray is on TV I change the channel. Spokane has far more Republicans (and far less crime) than Seattle/Tacoma.
Plus, my dog tried to kill Inslee when we lived on Bainbridge Island. Dogs know. And are apparently smarter than Dems.

The 2004 steal was very blatant—in Seattle the homeless folks were “given” the local country courthouse as their “address” and then they “voted” for the Democrat.

Now I guess they just use computers and don’t have to play such silly games....

Washington went nuts before California did. They voted for Dukakis. California didn’t.

All I need to know about Patty Murray:

Quoth Murray: “I would challenge anybody to tell me that they’ve stood on a line in Alabama and seen anybody building anything.”

Idiocy and arrogance are not a good combination.

I live in WA, I actually love my area, my County is red red and redder. With that said, I am blowing town, likely going to AZ. It is a matter of time before the ability of voters in King Cty/Seattle area to vote here. They simply move votes from areas they are not needed to win races, to begin populating areas they could never win fairly. I think the next two cycles 2022 and 2024 are when this will be used to great effect.

Our gas tax is going up $.49 per gallon Jan of 23, the same day our counties last coal/NG fired power plant is retired.

One other thing they are doing in this area, is building Hydrogen manufacturing plants. In this manner then can waste our water, and use more energy to make an energy source, than it can return. Just like solar and wind, a net negative. Our Counties muckedy ducks are happier than pigs in shi’ite, because more people, means more personal wealth and power....the beat just keeps the F going on.

I thought she was a pre-school teacher before becoming a career politician. Is she trying to claim she worked on the line at Boeing?

Sorry but the “blame California” excuse is getting old, especially since 90% of leftists in California are from flyover states who moved here uninvited in the last 20 years, so good riddance they are finally moving back home

The 500,000 Democrats who didn't turn out for Zerobama 2008 and Hillary 2016 are racist and mysogynist.

They poured out of their basements in their sheets and hoods to pull the lever for the Old White Guy.

“I thought she was a pre-school teacher before becoming a career politician. Is she trying to claim she worked on the line at Boeing?”

To make a long story short, there was a government contract for aircraft in competition between Boeing and Airbus (Airbus was going to manufacture in Alabama). She basically said people from Alabama are too stupid, or possibly lazy, to build aircraft.

These kinds of states are the reason why Republicans will NOT win much more than 20 seats, barely taking over the House in November. Gone are the days of 50-60 seat wins that we saw in the past.
