No One Is Talking About the Mass Food Shortage and Grocery Bill Increases US Is Barreling Toward
Western Journal ^ | March 12, 2022 | Mike Landry

With the elites poking at the Russian bear and trying to get us into World War III but in a way where they think none of us gets hurt, we are now facing food shortages.

That could mean possible monthly grocery costs rising by $1,000.

It’s the beginning of crop planting time. Crops need fertilizer. And through the brilliant mechanisms of globalism, guess where we get a lot of our fertilizer?

Russia. They provide two-thirds of the world’s supply.

And they’re temporarily shutting down their fertilizer exports.

So there’s one more log being added to the out-of-control inflation fire.

“We’re going to get hit on every front, on every expense possible,” Oklahoma farmer Ben Neal told Ingraham, “From fertilizers to fuel to labor, insurance – everything in between [including] our packing supplies.”

Neal’s farm operates on a farm-to-market business model, so he has direct fuel costs for transportation. But every farmer essentially faces the same thing – crops need to be transported to processors and final markets and there are increasing fuel costs to power the trucks, trains, barges and ships that make that happen.

But that’s the harvest. Right now there’s the problem of planting the crops in the first place, with their attendant fertilizer.

Already experiencing inflation, Neal predicts fertilizer will drive his costs up by about 25 to 30 percent, “And I think that will soon be reflected at the grocery stores … on top of what we’re already seeing.

Costs further along the supply chain for processing, packaging, transporting, distributing and general retailing may have their own inflation issues which bump prices beyond the 25-30 percent fertilizer cost increases Neal predicts for his farm.

So with costs for fuel and everything else going up, there’s no telling where prices will end up without Russian fertilizer.

Nobody? It’s all most people I know are talking about right now. This person needs to get out more. People are freaking out about grocery prices all over the country.

One of my local grocery stores has corned beef, point cut for $4.29 and chuck for $5.49. Most stores aren't even advertising the flat cut of corned beef but one has it listed at $6.99. I have some Morton Tender Quick here so I'm just going to corn some chuck.

One store has sugar on sale for $1.99 for the 4lb bag which is about the best I've seen in the past two years so I'll buy a bunch and fill the 4 gal bucket I keep it in. Might just fill another bucket. I've got about 6 gallons of rice and almost as much beans.

Got 30 pea plants going in the ground this week. 24 leaf lettuce, 6 cabbage and 6 komatsuma plants started and will go in the ground in a week or two. Then refill the 72 cell seed tray with greens and more brassica. Then maters and peppers. Beans direct seeded. Grocery stores ought to have seed potatoes in a month or so. Will be planting lots of those and dig as needed all year.

I agree. I grew up at that time too.

I have been preparing for this, but it is still frightening.

This weekend I am looking to source some garden soil even if last years stock at the old price point. Before they jack all that up as more folks will attempt to grow food.

Honestly though…I am scared and trying hard not to panic already.

Heck - I see them at the local convenience store - slim jims, slurpees, chips, etc. for lunch on the EBT card.

I was at a Hy-Vee yesterday and I started laughing at a isle-end of bagged chicken wings. A guy and his wife walked up to see what I was laughing to myself about and the woman looked at me and said “Jezaz, let's go Brandon”.
We were looking at 5 pound bags of chicken wings for $24.99.

I’ve seen two of the darling moms with overflowing carts loading up an Escalade.

my advice is to shop the sales...every store will have a loss leader...BUY as much as you can afford and store for your needs.....

That's what I do. I also (typically) don't buy anything I don't have a coupon for. Even that's getting harder to do since the three grocery stores near me have really cut back on the coupons.

This afternoon I'll be at my GF's home and she lives near an Amazon Fresh store. They have Progresso Soups (my favorite) for 50 cents a can LESS than anywhere else I can find it.

$1.58/can at Amazon fresh, minimum $2.09 - $2.99 everywhere else.

Yesterday the oatmeal I was used to buying at $1.99 was over $4.

This Bidenflation is insane.

A few of the peas are ready to grab onto something.

25-30 mph gusts today and tomorrow but Tues will be calm with a high of 63 and partly sunny so I'll start hardening off then.

I was so proud of myself for building up a comfortable savings and possible downpayment for property even after liberals shuttered my business because muh covid. Now... It is worth nothing thanks to a single year of the dribbling chomo in chief. I have come to realize it would be better to have just been a welfare leech rather then spend the past 15 years building a business.

This is happening to so many small business owners.

Every day, another family business near me closes. Some are third and fourth generation businesses, like the Country Cupboard in Lewisburg.

Biden and Co. have deliberately set out to destroy the middle class.

It is more obvious than ever.

The solution?

I can’t say it out loud.
