'Oh s**t, oh s**t!': Desperate pilot is heard on chilling audio from 10-seater private plane as it 'clipped power line' and disintegrated on impact: FAA confirms all four onboard were killed

We know the crew of the Challenger survived the initial breakup, several emergency oxygen systems were manually deployed.
NASA and the NTSB didn't release those tapes or transcripts.
It was the proper decision.
“ I don’t need this kind of stuff in my brain so I seldom click on it.”
Me either - learned my lesson with the murder suicide video in Pennsylvania
Actually , corporate jets with dedicated crews are the safest segment of air travel.
It’s the low time guys in high performance aircraft that can burn you.
They were probably flying to their home base. It was at night and after probably a long day everyone wanted to get home.
Last night I told wife about a fear of mine. Landing a jet full of people. I am not a pilot. I watched a video of a pilot telling how a non-pilot could auto-land a plane, with instructions from ground control. I could do that, but still I think that some day that will happen to me... That’s my fear. I have no fear of dying in a plane crash, but taking the safety of all those people in my hands, oh hell.
WOW!
There is NO way I would watch something like that.
If you listened to the ATC recording, the pilot was obviously flying IFR, and requested cancellation on final.
Overconfidence is an effective killer.
I don’t believe that the video is from the actual aircraft—it’s a simulation to go with the ATC recording.
I got a pal like that
Was based at Gillespie for
20 yrs. Luscombe, Piper Cubs and Home Builds. Flew out several Times a month.
I trusted him but still
Knew the Dangers.
“Too short for IFR.”
Incorrect
Pretty sure IFR brings you down to 500ft, where you then convert to a VFR landing. If you cannot pick up the runway at 500ft, you then go around for another attempt or divert to your alternate airport plan.
All landings are VFR.
12-1 glide ratio on a private Cessna 172. Much safer on a private plane as you know the pilot. Private pilots train in the aircraft in the air, commercial train in simulators.
This accident, however, wreaks of pilot error.
Thanks. Now I know I’m not crazy. Throw in falling out airplanes/buildings, burning buildings and accidentally killing your own kid dreams. I have one real crazy one that terrifies me still 25 years later.
I've watched lots of "Air Disaster" episodes and it amazes my how many even commercial pilots don't seem to know how to use the four basic flight instruments: ADI, HSI, Airspeed indicator, and Altimeter.
or showing up at a Final exam without being to class all semester?
= = =
What is it about this one!
Mine is a variant - About 3 months into the semester, I look at my class schedule and discover that I have been missing my Thursday afternoon lab.
“Looks to me in the video that the plane banked to much and completely lost lift.”
While that certainly sucks for the pilot, that also has to suck for the Air Traffic Controller that had to listen to those death-screams.
I had a friend on that plane. Susie Kolarik. The daughter of my dad's college room mate. A very sad day. Susie was an architect and was having some brilliant success in her field. Our families had many outings together when we were still in junior high school.
I don't know if Susie was a pilot, but her dad and brother both enjoyed stunt flying. They owned a pair of high performance Pitts bi-planes.
The video with the view from the cockpit is much better.
I'm not sure that is an actual video. I think it is created from telemetry from aircraft and ground radar. Flightradar24 has a 3D view option that does this.
Can anyone confirm?
