Kathy Griffin diagnosed with lung cancer despite ‘never’ smoking

Kathy Griffin revealed she has lung cancer despite “never” smoking and will be undergoing surgery to have half of her left lung removed.

The comedian announced the news Monday morning in a lengthy note posted to social media, sharing that the cancer is stage 1 and “contained.”

“I’ve got to tell you guys something. I have cancer. I’m about to go into surgery to have half of my left lung removed,” she began her letter on social media. “Yes, I have lung cancer even though I’ve never smoked! The doctors are very optimistic as it is stage one and contained to my left lung.”

Griffin, 60, said she’s hopeful that she won’t need to get chemotherapy or radiation treatment after the surgery and “should have normal function with my breathing.”

She might have had lots of exposure to second hand smoke in comedy clubs. I would think most or all of them went non-smoking 20 years ago, but maybe before that.

She’s lucky they caught it. For non-smokers, cancer often progresses before it becomes a noticeable health issue. My boss’s wife had no sign of cancer until it metasticized so badly tha brain tumors caused stroke-like symptoms.

Cancer absolutely has emotional roots. There is a ton of evidence suggesting that repressed anger, hate and resentment play a crucial role in the development of cancer. Increased stress hormones caused by emotional triggers suppress the immune system, which can lead to cancer.

people who are consumed on the inside with anger, hate and other negative emotions do seem to have more health issues than those who live a truly positive life.
