Wait. The bank can just confiscate her money?
Things like this make me burn.
This is Facism, industry acting in concert with government to punish political opposition.
I just cannot say what I think should happen to those responsible.
They can close an account but I think they have to give you your money. She’s probably got it waiting for her at the bank in the form of a cashier’s check. Once she gets it, she needs to find a nice little small town bank to put it in.
No, probably slow boated a paper check to get to her in 30 days just to be scumbags.
Nope
“Wait. The bank can just confiscate her money?”
There is more to the story. Almost certain.
Occam’s razor says it’s divorce, over charged card, some late revolving account...or some government agency at some level, from IRS, DOJ all the way down to the local county tax collector.
But I’m sure she’d like to create a lot mystery around her being a semi prominent Christian Conservative to enhance her gofundme.
No, they can’t. And doing so and stating that it is legal will completely undermine the entire banking system. NO one from the least to the most wealthy will feel that it is a safe place to put money. Typically, for funds to be seized there has to be due process- a court has to order it. And typically, the court won’t order such if the account is held by two people since the money in the accounts may be the other person’s. Point is, the banks are very very careful about this because there is much more at stake than the loss of just one person’s funds. A bank run is not something anyone wants.
Only if you're Republican.
No, they cannot confiscate her money. What they can do legally is close the account and take up to six weeks to send her funds to her. Whether in the form of a bank check, or wire transfer to another bank who she opens an account with.
Yes, that's right: They can take up to six weeks to send her money back to her.
No, they can close down the account and disburse the funds—usually in the form of a check sent to the address on record.
And yes…every bank can do that to any account.
Not making a comment on the person or circumstances…just clarifying what a bank can do.
I’m sure they mailed her a check.
