Imagine if the U.S. were to open interior Alaska for colonization and, for whatever reason, thousands of Canadian settlers poured in, establishing their own towns, hockey rinks and Tim Hortons stores. When the U.S. insists they follow American laws and pay American taxes, they refuse. When the government tries to collect taxes, they shoot and kill American soldiers. When law enforcement goes after the killers, the colonists, backed by Canadian financing and mercenaries, take up arms in open revolt.

>> This and most other magazines are owned by a handful of leftist publishers and hire only writers who push the leftist /statist narrative and agenda. In most cases they can’t even give them away and are digital rags.
In the 1960s even Dylan and the Stones derided such “news” reporters (when they reported the day’s “news” or wanted to do interviews).

“Mexico, after gaining independence from Spain (who gave the original charters for Americans to settle in Texas) became a dictatorship”
Correct. Also I doubt the article mentions that Texas was not the only Mexican province that was in revolt - lots of Mexico was rebelling against Santa Ana at this time due to his suspension of the 1824 constitution. It was a principled revolt.

The neoconquest is happening now. Texians moved into Mexico and didn't assimilate. Migration destroys. A place will be conquered via migration, just as the US is now.

“Mexico gained its independence”
It wasn’t a gift. it was armed revolution
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_War_of_Independence
The Mexican War of Independence (Spanish: Guerra de Independencia de México) was an armed conflict and political process, lasting from 1808 to 1821, resulting in Mexico’s independence from Spain. It was not a single, coherent event, but local and regional struggles that occurred within the same time period, and can be considered a revolutionary civil war.[2]
It was okay when Mexico did it to Spain but “wrong” when Texas did it to Mexico?

Does that mean that the people south of the border have to give up accordions and polka music?

Conquerors do the conquering. It has always been that way. Demographic take over is another example. Many a folk lost land along the borders, some Spanish land grants were respected, other places were swept away.

“...Generalisimo Santa Ana”
Santa Ana was presidente of Mexico four times. During three of his four times in office Mexico shrank. First with Texas Independence, Second with the Mexican Cession and third with the Gadsen Purchase. The Mexicans finally got rid of him after yet another try at being president. He had lost a leg in battle and had it buried with military honors. During one revolt the Mexicans dug it up and fed it to the dogs.
I sometimes watch Mexican TV to help with my Spanish. There is an educational channel Canal Once that did a show on the 11 Worst Mexicans in history. Something like 8 of the 11 were leaders (viceroy, emperor, presidente, etc.) of the nation. Perhaps if Mexicans chose more wisely, they’d be living in a bigger nation. Or perhaps they enjoy an immunity of a certain demographic group—nothing is ever their fault.

Mexico, after gaining independence from Spain (who gave the original charters for Americans to settle in Texas) became a dictatorship under Generalisimo Santa Ana, and his tyranny caused the rebellion in Texas.
Texas was just one of several Mexican states in rebellion against Santa Ana - Texas just happened to succeed in its rebellion.

Now that is some colorful history right there.

Yes, we have been telling the Alamo story wrong, mainly because we don’t teach any Mexican history, which is spectacularly bumptious. The Mexico City junta had a dreadful time trying to unify the country. The Central American republics were originally part of Mexico; they separated very early on. That was followed by a series of regional revolts. One of these was especially notable because Santa Anna, at the time a young officer, executed an order to slaughter rebel prisoners without mercy, which is an easy connect-the-dots trail to the massacre of the prisoners at Goliad and the Alamo. The Texicans then waged their own successful separatist revolt, which was followed by additional regional uprisings through the 1930’s. If we paid just a bit of attention to Mexico’s history, the idiots wouldn’t have so easy a time misrepresenting the Texas rebellion.

Funny how after 200 years, people who know nothing about history are the ones retelling it. Get ready for the revisionist history of the Passion of the Christ:
Jesus was betrayed by one of his apostles and tried in the middle of the night by the Sanhedrin and unjustly convicted of blasphemy He was turned over to Pontius Pilate, who flogged him and although finding him innocent, turned him over to the Jews to be crucified. Jesus then carried his cross with help to Golgotha. He was nailed to the cross along with 2 other crucified criminals. He suffered and died. His body was taken off the cross and buried in an grave where a giant stone was rolled in front of it. And on the 3rd day, the stone was rolled away and Jesus appeared risen from his grave. He came out of his grave, saw his shadow and predicted 6 more weeks of winter.
