Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and husband of Queen Elizabeth II, has died at age 99, the royal family announced Friday.
Philip and the queen were married for more than 70 years, making him the longest-serving spouse of a reigning British monarch. He was the oldest-ever male member of the British royal family.
Philip was born on the Greek island of Corfu on June 10, 1921, to Prince Andrew of Greece and Princess Alice of Battenberg.

The Royalty is an important part of Western Civilization. If it falls, the rest of Western Civilization will quickly follow.
I’m just pointing out that whatever else he was, he was also a skilled, distinguished naval combat veteran who rendered valuable service to our country (as an ally) as well as his own. Such service should be remembered and honored.
Bowles should have cut Charles off once she married or married Charles
There is the fact he didn’t love Diana but damn why marry her then
Incredibly sad news!! He will be missed! God bless him. Praying for Queen Elizabeth 2 🙏🙏🙏
I’m thinking she wont attend the funeral, citing her pregnancy, Archie, COVID, not feeling well, etc.
That would likely be the last straw for the Queen.
The family probably doesn’t want Halfwit or MeGain at the funeral to pull focus or have some kind of bratty tantrum as they always do. Since the UK still has restrictions on how many people can gather, however many people are allowed to attend a funeral service right now is probably not very high. With all the other family, friends and longtime staff who will attend, the Harkles can easily be left out for COVID restriction reasons.
A good sense of humor helps to ensure a long and healthy life. Looks like Prince Phillip achieved that.
I’ve on Season Two of “The Royals” and I never knew that he came from such a dysfunctional background.
I just watched the episode which showed Prince Philip being sent to that rough school in Scotland. I didn’t know that he was so close to his Sister.
I felt really bad for him after the tragic death of his Sister and her family in the plane crash. His Father was incredibly cruel to him; Blaming him for his Sister’s death and calling her his “favorite” child.
As I just posted, I just finished that episode of his Sister’s plane crash.
His Father was incredibly cruel.
People who fact check “The Crown” say that the part about Philip’s father isn’t true. His father was a ne’er do well, though.
There’s a lot on “The Crown” that isn’t true.
Didn’t just give up his career. His religion, his identity. Gave up being a prince of Greece and Denmark. He served his adopted country well.
If there is any limit on mourners at the funeral, I hardly think staff would be allowed before the grandson & his family. If the queen told Harry & Megan not to come, imagine the uproar from the liberal press.
No, Harry will be there, but probably not Meagan. I doubt she will ever visit the British Isles again.
She usually makes an announcement whenever something happening with the royal family. Other day it was Netflix. Probably knowing Phillip was on his deathbed.
Philip got the covid vac just a few weeks before being hospitalized.
Your *current Head of State* wasn't elected.
I'm not trying to rub this in - I seriously admire America and its Constitution, and the Biden coup must hurt you all every day.
But maybe you should sort *that* situation out before you start criticising other peoples' Constitutional arrangements?
I’m waiting for the 4th of the series (The Crown) to arrive. I rooted for him through all three of the first ones, and felt that if he was anything like his portrayal, he was dealt a bad hand by the men who “advised” the Queen in her early years.
He was as good a man as the British “controllers” allowed him to be. And I don’t think he was allowed to be a very good parent. He wanted to be, but was overruled. No pun intended.

What a terrifically difficult position to be in. He married Elizabeth, not the QUEEN. And this was when there were more traditional gender roles. He had to take a backseat to her love for her country. I had tremendous empathy for both of them after watching that series. Of course, we dont know how much if any of it is accurate.
The Crown is very inaccurate - I’ve watched it, but I’ve also researched a lot of what they’ve dramatized or implied, and it’s mostly fiction.
Meghan Markle is of disgraceful character.
Okay, they say the famous die in threes. We just had Prince Philip and Rapper DMX kick the bucket. Who will the third one be? It won’t matter much UNLESS the third one is a Democrat senator from a state with a Republican governor, in which case there will be a YUUUUUUUUGE fireworks display of liberal angst.
