Fewer COVID Patients in Hospitals, ICUs and on Vents in Almost Every Region in Ohio
The Ohio Star ^ | 12/30/2020 | Jack Windsor

Governor DeWine or Chief Medical Officer Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff spend a portion of press briefings discussing the issue of hospital capacity, often warning Ohioans that if cases continue to climb, hospitals around the state will be overrun and care for other non-COVID patients may be crowded out.

Consequently, The Ohio Star dug into the data to unearth the trend in statewide hospital capacity and in each of Ohio’s eight Hospital Preparedness Regions.

Based on numbers found on the COVID Dashboard, between December 1 and December 15 cases dropped statewide by 23%, hospitalizations dipped 1% and deaths decreased 35%.

The percentage change was not calculated beyond December 15 as the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) has repeatedly advised that numbers take about two weeks to settle – except for numbers reported on the Hospital Key Indicator page, which updates daily.

According to the data found on the state website (specifically under the “Key Metrics” tab, then “Hospitalizations” in the drop-down menu) total utilization statewide per inpatient beds, ICU beds and ventilators, is as follows:

Well put together information around their fearmongering press conferences. What they are saying and terrorizing people is a crime.

If you look at the trend it appears that Ohio regionally is at herd immunity. Cases falling and it appears to be right on the 72 day cycle.

Yo know the media is going to cool it on the fear mongering hysteria hoax now that cheating jo is in. They don’t want anything but roses for a Biden administration! And they don’t wanna make Chyna look bad at the same time since they’ve been bought by China money.

I truly wish there were more citizen watchdogs when it comes to facts. How do we research the actual number of COVID cases being treated in hospitals? Would a hospital administrator even divulge accurate numbers?

“What they are saying and terrorizing people is a crime.”

Problem is, some, maybe a lot, of people WANT this. They want to be scared. It gives them a purpose to mask up and hide. I would have never believed it if I hadn’t witnessed it.

And DeWine is the worst kind of politician. My wishes for him in the new year are unpublishable.

Well, maybe my Governor Newsom can ship some of the COVID patients from California to those nice clean empty hospital beds in Ohio. Somebody give Gavin Gov. DeWine’s cell phone number.

The COVID-spouting governors of the various states are nothing less than domestic terrorists.

Same in Colorado.

Current hospitalization total down from 1800 to 1050, since Nov 13.
Percentage of hospital beds taken by CV patients down from 22% to 11%
7 day average cases down from 6000 to around 2300.
Deaths lag and reporting seems almost random but deaths peaked about a month ago and are trending down.

Oh, forgot to add Ventilator use.

Peaked at 49%, now at 39%.

There certainly have been spikes all over the country.

They’re just ratcheting the figures one way, and ignoring that in many of those places there is a fall from a peak soon thereafter while a spike happens in a different place.

I’d bet that if you looked granularly enough, that you’d see genuinely very high infection rates in a small area - so high that it effectively closes itself off from other groups, and *locally* exhausts itself. It also looks like these micro-surges aren’t really well correlated negatively to masks or lockdowns.

Thank God things are easing here. This is the natural course of the infection. It rises, peaks, then falls off about 6 weeks later. regardless of masks, lockdowns or anything else government does to get in the way. We did not see a post thanksgiving bump and I do not expect a post Christmas one either. Hopefully we do not go straight into a nasty flu season now

That’s the thing, both the rises and the falls appear to be regional in effect. It suggests evidence that both *ends* of the argument are flawed: The disease shuts itself off regionally by surging strongly enough that it forms a nearly closed cell, but doesn’t exhaust itself completely, so it leaks to new cells sequentially. The infectiousness of the disease is such that the size of the ‘leak’ isn’t a dominant factor.

Given that most of the personal steps to limit COVID transfer also work even better on the less-infectious flu, it seems unlikely, but I suppose it is possible with excessive dismissal.

Just don't touch your face. Rinse hands with 91% isopropyl alcohol after any interaction (knobs, ATMs, toilet plungers, handles, people), and take Vitamin D (preferably drops) every morning when arising.

That is nearly 100% protection. From ANY virus, which is all COVID is.

“It rises, peaks, then falls off about 6 weeks later. regardless of masks, lockdowns or anything else government does to get in the way”

Exactly.

I watch and record daily. I’m watching for trends. It’s been 7 days since Christmas and we had a bad day yesterday. Waiting to see if it’s a “holiday blip”, a small one wouldn’t surprise me.

Yesterday might mean nothing since the actual daily reported cases were 2351, but 887 cases were added from “previous days” bringing the total to 3238. They do that every day and the “added” number can be anywhere from 20 to 900 cases. The Colorado CCV site at least shows both numbers, which helps. I just look for trends. When the virus takes a direction it stays with it for 5-6 weeks in general.
