Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan plans to sign a new city budget that will reduce the police budget by 18% despite homicides reaching record highs not seen in a decade.
Council members overwhelmingly voted last week to cut funds for police training and overtime and to eliminate dozens of vacant positions within the Seattle Police Department after months of contentious talks. The reductions fall short of the 50% that local activists demanded amid nationwide protests against police brutality and racial injustice.
The council also decided to transfer parking enforcement officers, mental health workers and 911 dispatchers out of the police department.
“I believe we are laying the groundwork to make systemic and lasting changes to policing,” Durkan said in a statement last week. “We have rightly put forward a plan that seeks to ensure SPD has enough officers to meet 911 response and investigative needs throughout the city, while acknowledging and addressing the disproportionate impacts policing has had on communities of color, particularly Black communities.

There will be more and more 911 calls, and fewer and fewer
officers.

The people who push and vote to defund the police are murderers. It would be illegal but not immoral to deal with them.
On the bright side, there will be an increase in body parts available, which coupled with other Progressive shitholes increased death counts, should drive the prices down.

Yeah, I think they should disband the cops altogether in Seattle.. I don't think it would hurt me too much to see half of that stinking town on the slab..
Besides, there are lots of folks in small towns in mid America that will soon need all the good help they can get.. I thing the feces is about to hit the ventilator..
I hope so anyway, what's happening in our nation is enough to make a good man ashamed of himself... A good percentage of DC SHOULD be hanging from the light posts. :(

I was in a 911 dispatch office for 3 days. for a movie project. For research. There is a reason why 911 dispatchers have either a high quit rate or you are trained to “not care’, and be objective.
The 2nd day I was there was “training day”. They played the funny calls and everyone started laughing. THEN they switched to the most disturbing calls you’ll hear.
More than half the class was in tears, including my co-partners. You do this sh*t everyday 5 days a week, you will be messed up.

Some people have to be hit with the bat a few times before they learn. You leftists are those people.
