Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), one of President Trumps most outspoken critics, says he will vote for Judge Amy Coney Barrett to be confirmed to the Supreme Court.
Romney, who was the only Republican senator to vote to convict Trump on an article of impeachment in February, praised Barrett on Thursday, calling her impressive and exceptionally well qualified.
After meeting with Judge Barrett and carefully reviewing her record and her testimony, I intend to vote in favor of her confirmation to the Supreme Court, he said in a statement. I am confident that she will faithfully apply the law and our Constitution, impartially and regardless of policy preferences.
Good, now Collins can vote no and squeak out a victory.
Feinstein hugs Lindsey now Mittens will vote yes?? Hmmm, maybe they think Trump is going to win?
Well Whoopi ding.
nice catch
they are both up to their gills in the Uke swamp
“I think we get all 53 of the Republican votes and maybe one dem.”
I don’t see any Dem votes, except perhaps from Joe Manchin and/or Kyrsten Sinema; but I think it’s more than likely not even them.
When the wind blows, the weathervane turns.
I’m guessing Mitch had something to do with this too. Like, if you stab me in the back on this one, the only committee you will ever Chair is the Senate Latrine Committee.
Mitt, the actions of the Dems against Barrett were “unbecoming.”
Romney is a Never Trumper. The only reason he’s going to vote for Barrett is because his handlers at Golden Sacks told him this particular hill ain’t worth wasting ammunition on.
But never fear. Romney Rat will be out in force the next time it looks like Trump is in trouble.
He is trying to suck up to Trump to get then to cover up his involvement in the Burisma scam.
Romney already spent his “independent” card by voting to convict Trump in the bogus impeachment debacle. He could ill afford to buck the party on a big ticket issue twice in one year. He is also doing to provide Collins cover to allow her to vote against - Collins previously voted for Kavanaugh and voted against conviction.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
p!
Heard she had a Priest hose down Romneys office with holy water before she would meet with him.
Some of these Senators realize that they will be in Washington longer than Trump, who will be gone in four years. Putting Barrett on the court is a good long term move.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
He realizes how bad his vote for impeachment really was...he got played because of his petty spite and he knows it diminished him in the eyes of his peers and most sane folks...trying to get some of the decent folks to like him.
That’s so sad.
