I crossed the Mason-Dixon line today, driving north on Route 30 from the Baltimore area into Pennsylvania. I drove through farmland, side streets, developments, etc. Not unexpectedly, there were a healthy smattering of Trump signs/flags, but not as many as you would expect in this rural, pro-Trump area. What was striking, however, were the number of American flags that were out in front of houses. A couple of suburban developments south of Hanover had probably one American flag for every 5 houses, and there was probably a Trump sign/flag one to every 12 houses.
Weirdly, I saw zero Trump bumper stickers in my 2 hour drive through Trump country (I saw zero Biden anything all day). Additionally, there were a smattering of other possibly "shy" Trump supporters, e.g., thin blue line flag, "vote freedom," etc. Bottom line: I thought the Hanover, PA area was celebrating the 4th of July--that's how many flags were out in yards and on houses. Has the American flag replaced Trump signs?
In my neck of the woods a Trump sticker says “vandalize me.”
I don’t see many if any signs for either of these candidates. There are partisans on each side and the people in the middle probably don’t care much for either of them.
Also — in these times people may not wish to advertise their candidate on their car or home for fear of vandalization or worse.
That’s been my feeling too, especially the ones that have pulled out all the stops with flags, banners, and bunting.
I used to have an Obama bumper sticker on my truck.. It was a picture of Obama and it said:
“DOES THIS ASS MAKE MY TRUCK LOOK BIG”
Had fun riding around DC and Baltimore. Got a lot of middle finger waves from motorist but they stayed away from the truck... for several reasons !!
I saw a post from my uber-lib sister, saying “If you see a Trump flag, you know who they’re voting for. If you see an American flag, they’re voting for Biden.”

So, how long before property (houses, vehicles, etc.) displaying the US Flag falls prey to attacks?
Virtually all Trump supporters revere the American Flag. Many, many Biden supporters have disdain for our country’s flag. It is the equivalent in 2020 of flying a Trump flag with less risk of vandalism and marking one’s self as a target.
I leave little doubt by flying a Betsy Ross Flag.
Nonetheless, I am ordering a Trump sign anyway.
Yes/ It now means the same thing. But without the outward leftist rage (but they do seethe with anger at the Stars and Stripes).

As we drove in we started counting houses with Trump signs vs. houses with Biden signs. The score was about even at 17-16. On the way out, we did not count, but the impression was the same. However, we did note that most of the Trump houses had American flags and the Biden houses overwhelmingly did not. The question was raised by my wife: Should we count houses with flags and no sign as Trump houses?

Curious: Have Trump supporters told you in Wisconsin that they are afraid of putting out signs/flags or putting bumper stickers on their vehicles?

There are pockets of Biden supporters now, a lot more Biden signs than Trump signs, but the Biden signs seem to be in the more well off neighborhoods. Tons of flags in poorer neighborhoods and there are Trump signs there. That is in the city, the GOP has a huge registration advantage in the county, so unless there are bunches of Republicans buying what Biden is selling, Trump will win here. Still and all there are flags but not so much with the Trump signs.
Wherever I see a Biden sign, I see a “hate has no home here...” sign. No American flag. Just virtue signaling.
Also interesting to note that Dems don’t do their campaign signs in red, white and blue. Always some weird green or light blue, gray.
Same here in MO. Very few Trump signs/flags but way more American flags. People out here aren’t into making political statements. They consider their politics/vote a private thing, plus they’re just low key.
Part of it might also be simply a pro USA thing with all the anti-USA crap going around.

I frequently see Old Glory flying where there are Trump signs; it’s very common in my neighborhood.
Good observation. And that’s in Palm Springs out in the middle of the desert where safety shouldn’t be an issue. As I said in my post, it seemed like it was the 4th of July in southern PA. BTW, in addition to vandalism, there is probably fear of getting fired from your job, as well, if someone spots you as a Trump supporter.

Down in AL there is (well, was) Trump signs at almost every house near me. I am in an area that is very.. white and middle/upper middle class, lots of military as well so it is unsurprising. We did have an incident in the past couple weeks where almost everyone’s signs were stolen from their yards and only flags on poles remained. I’ve replenished mine but not everyone has been able to..
