President Donald Trump is closely considering two conservative women to fill Ruth Ginsburgs seat on the Supreme Court.
According to people familiar with the process, one of those potential picks is Barbara Lagoa, a seasoned Florida judge with Cuban roots.
Heres what you need to know about Lagoa: A trailblazer for women and Latinos
A Florida native, Lagoa was the first Hispanic woman to serve on the Florida Supreme Court. If nominated to the nations high court by Trump and confirmed by the Senate, she would be the second Latino justice to ever serve. Current Justice Sonia Sotomayor became the first when she was nominated by former President Barack Obama.
If nominated and confirmed, Lagoa would be the fifth woman to serve on the Supreme Court. She's been vetted
Trump nominated Lagoa to serve on 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in 2019. She was confirmed by the Senate in a bipartisan vote, which could help ease her path to the court if shes selected by the president again. She could serve for a long while
At 52, Lagoa would be the youngest justice on the Supreme Court, just a few months behind one of Trumps other nominees, Neil Gorsuch. A lifetime appointment to the court would allow her to serve for decades to come. A deep legal background
After graduating from Columbia Law School, Lagoa worked as a pro bono lawyer for Elian Gonzalezs family and later as a federal prosecutor. Lagoa then spent more than a decade as a judge on a Florida appeals court before being picked by Gov. Ron DeSantis to serve on the states supreme court.
"She has been the essence of what a judge should be, DeSantis said when he nominated her.
Lagoa is married to Paul C. Huck, an attorney. They have three daughters.

For openers, I trust PDJT’s instincts on picking a nominee, WHOEVER SHE IS, more than all posters on this thread combined X 1000.
Second, McConnell needs 50 senators to say Aye. As we all know, there are many mushy moderate republicans in senate. Does any one know if there are 50 votes for any nominee?
Nothing would be m ore embarrassing than losing the senate vote, no matter how pure the candidate is. It would be unmitigated disaster, with distinct possibility of time running out for alternate nominee, and heaven forbid Biden gets to nominate replacement for RGB.
ACB would be the better choice.
Not into this one, smells like a Bush Roberts.
So if Marco Rubio is pushing hard for someone, you'll say that should disqualify them?
Here’s what you have to know, she will not be the one Trump picks and this is a cynical lie from the left. They are trying to set up a narrative that Trump hates Hispanics and that’s why she was not picked. Trump will pick Amy Coney Barrett. He does not need to raise his numbers with Hispanics. He is at 38,% with them now and won last time with 28%. When he picks Barrett his already stunning 91,% Envagelicals # goes to 95% of more voter.
Lagoa is “especially dangerous because she is Latina.”
It doesn’t feel organic. Politico says she’s perfect.
Amen. Tired of playing the Rat’s games.
Bingo.
That is an excellent recommendation!
Maybe but shell have to wait until the next SC opening. The timing isnt right for that fight.....but once Trump wins.....it will be.
“Might be risky for leftists to claim that she ran with a rape gang.”
Why do we need two wise Latinas on the court? What’s wrong with a plain old white bread member of the court.
What’s with all these foreigners who have ties to other countries being considered to rule over us.
“District Judge Paul Huck is her father-in-law, not her father. “
wiki says it’s her husband
She is the daughter of refugees from Castro’s Cuba-she was born right here in the US-I doubt her family has ties to Cuba, just looking to rule over us. Hispanic/Latino is an ethnic group-not a race-I’m a Latina and Caucasian-Ms Lagoa is a shade or two lighter than I am-she is a Caucasian and Latina-I don’t know any people who were-or had parents who were-refugees from communist countries who vote democrat...
No, that’s Paul Huck jr.
We don’t need another u known quantity on the court, especially a minority who could one day decide to advocate for “her people” or fall under the spell of a “wise Latina”.
Amen to that...
Amen!!!
She appears conservative to me-although I see a lot of angst here already and she hasn’t even been nominated yet-I’m going to trust pres Trump-he did fine on the two justices he already got on the SC-he didn’t make all that money in business by letting himself get conned...
