President Trump reminded voters Saturday morning hed like to block a return to Washington for his former Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
Big Senate Race in Alabama on Tuesday, Mr. Trumptweeted, while urging voters to back former Auburn football coach Tommy Tuberville in the July 14 primary. Jeff Sessions is a disaster who has let us all down. We dont want him back in Washington!
The winner of Alabamas GOP primary runoff will face Democratic Sen. Doug Jones in November. Mr. Jones rode a torrent of out-of-state money and scandals engulfing his GOP opponent to win a special election in 2017, and while he remains flush with cash he is considered the most vulnerable Democratic incumbent by most political analysts.
Mr. Sessions, whom all polls show trailing Mr. Tuberville, has sought to define the latter with unproven record, warning GOP primary voters of happened three years ago when former state supreme court justice Roy Moore was buried under allegations of sexual misconduct with a young woman decades ago.
Attacks against the frontrunner, Mr. Tuberville, have escalated in the campaigns final weeks, with stories resurfacing about his light disciplinary touch with talented players at Auburn, and the extent of his involvement in a sketchy investment fund that went south and led to a fraud conviction against his former partner in the enterprise.
But limping into the runoff after a second place finish, Mr. Sessions has had to labor under Mr. Trumps endorsement of Mr. Tuberville, and the presidents myriad reminders that Mr. Sessions almost immediately recused himself in the so-called Russian collusion investigation, leaving Mr. Trump vulnerable his first two years in office to bogus charges his campaign was in cahoots with the Kremlin.

Jeff should just recuse himself, sooner rather than later.
He cost the country years of time.
“has...unproven record”
That’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Tuberville is soft on immigration. Regardless of his failure as AG, Jeff was Great senator, and I will be voting for him
Hopefully he wins because the other guy is a rino amnesty dirtbag
I would too if I lived in Alabama.
The Senate is the perfect place for Sessions. Doesn’t require a lot of executive decision making. At least he’d be a sure vote for the next SC nomination.
Tucker Carlson has been promoting Sessions.
But I sure can understand Trump’s disappointment at Sessions. He could have sidelined this whole Russia hoax and Mueller witch trial at the get go.
“Regardless of his failure as AG...”
That little weasel is the one solely responsible for the hell this country has lived through for three and a half years.
I want Sessions to win also, I just think the DOJ was over his head Sessions was a GREAT senator for Alabama AND he is GREAT on immigration!!!
Mr. Trumptweeted, while urging voters to back former Auburn football coach...
Trumptweeted is now a word?
I like Sessions because he’s reliable on immigration. Tuberville is new to politics so we have no idea how much dirt Doug Jones has on him. Possibly enough for a late hit to move the needle in Jones’s favor. Tuberville should either run for a House seat or some statewide office before going for the Senate at a pivotal moment like this.
I hope the benefit is worth the risk of getting overly involved.
I wish Trump would have stayed out of this primary. I get that he is disappointed in Sessions’ terrible performance as AG; but if Sessions wins, Trump will then have to back Sessions after having trashed him in favor of his opponent. The bad blood could even turn Sessions into a never-Trumper on important Senate votes.
Either Tuberville or Sessions is far better than Jones. Unless we’re looking at a dirtbag RINO on the level of Romney, I wish President Trump would stay neutral the primaries.
How can Sessions even be under serious consideration?
I thought Sessions was a good guy at one time, but he authored a series of car wrecks with victims that still has not been mitigated or punished.
Sessions should retire and apologize for his complete lack of backbone and the legal travesties that led to.
Youre a fool.
L
Youre a fool, too.
L
Someone should tell PDJT to trust the plan.
AG Sessions had a choice to make.
Do I protect President Trump and do my job
OR
Do I go along with the deep state uniparty plan to remove him from office.
We all know which path Gutless Sessions took. He protected the uniparty.
