White Woman Who Called Police On Black Bird Watcher In Central Park Has Been Fired
NPR ^ | May 26, 2020 | Brakkton Booker

Posted on 05/26/2020 1:32:43 PM PDT by SJackson

A black man says he asked a white woman in Central Park to put her dog on a leash.

Then, video shows her calling police and telling emergency operators that the man was threatening her and her dog. The woman, who has been identified as Amy Cooper, has apologized. But by Tuesday afternoon she was fired from her job at an investment management firm.

"Following our internal review of the incident in Central Park yesterday, we have made the decision to terminate the employee involved, effective immediately. We do not tolerate racism of any kind at Franklin Templeton," the company said in a statement posted to Twitter.

I have no idea why this would cost her her job.

You can't possibly be this dull.

Her statement, "I am being threatened by a man in the Bramble. Please send the cops immediately." would have had the dispatcher telling the patrol officers to hit warp speed to get to this woman.

All that until she starts accusing males at her office of sexual harassment because she’s decided it’s her turn to get promoted so might as well remove the opposition.

The rules of that particular area required dogs to be on leashes. She knew that. The man was not out of line asking her to put the leash on her dog.

There have been several occasions where I have come across dogs that were not leashed and while they were not threatening, I was ready to defend myself against a dog attack. It's very irresponsible to take a dog to an area where leashes are required when they are not leashed.

One article said she turned the dog back in to the rescue organization where she got him.

I hate seeing unleashed dogs, especially when I walk mine. I’ve been bit once by a small dog, only tore my jeans. When I’m with my dogs, 2 GSDs, off leash dogs are often an absolute threat, poorly trained on leash as bad or worse, when they growl and charge my dogs. Who are well trained, but will react at some point, and I know whose fault it will be.

ME (to the dog): Come here, puppy!
HER: He won’t come to you.
ME: We’ll see about that...

I pull out the dog treats I carry for just for such intransigence. I didn’t even get a chance to toss any treats to the pooch before Karen scrambled to grab the dog.

Honestly if I had a stranger trying to lure my dog over with a treat he just happened to have I'd be a tad upset with that person. Of course my dog was always on a leash but still, I'm not a trusting enough soul to let a stranger try to lure my dog over and pick it up. If that makes me a Karen, so be it.

She seems nuts.

But this lead people on twitter to compare this to Emmett Till (WTF) and call for the death of the now 80-something year old woman who claimed he whistled at her (like it’s her fault her psychotic husband murdered the boy). Leftists are deranged.

No doubt she’s a lefty so I’m elated that she got fired.

I had an uber driver today. Guy looked like Collin Powell (down on his luck? LOL). I could easily imagine him going bird watching.

You obviously know nothing about the circumstances. Read up a bit more.

This is a privileged Upper West Side Karen who was violating the abundantly well-posted leash law and also, in that area, a specific no dog law. The man is a regular birdwatcher who, like many others, goes to that area because it is theoretically a tiny nature preserve in Central Park.

He’s obviously had run ins with “dog mommies” before and I thought he had a good tactic for dealing with them..offer the dog a treat and then you know the ‘dog mommy” will rush forward and grab and leash the dog.

She was clearly PO’d that he had gotten her to do this. But the thing that’s bizarre is that her first thought was to call the cops and say án African American man was going to murder her,” or something to that effect.

This, two days after the woman who drowned her own autistic child here in Florida had called police to say that two black men had stopped her car and dragged him out - but fortunately a security camera caught her pushing the child into the canal herself.

So the man was absolutely right and very prudent to video Karen.

“I’m not a trusting enough soul to let a stranger try to lure my dog over and pick it up”

Most dog owner’s aren’t. Which is why he does it to make them put the dog on a leash. After she put the dog on the leash he stopped filming.

Wrongful termination. This happened in her private life.
That manufactured TweetStorm/ RaceBaiting should have just been ignored by her employer. Those sitting on their high horses gloating about this may feel differently when it happens to you.
I thought the Cancel Culture was slowly disappearing.

“Maybe we should make it official - pass a constitutional amendment making it unlawful to call the cops on black people, or convict them, never mind prosecute or even arrest them.”

There already appears to be laws against filing a false police report and she could be charged as such.

As for her job, she can be fired for whatever reason her employer deems fit.

ME: Look, if you’re going to do what you want, I’m going to do what I want, but you’re not going to like it.
HER: What’s that?
ME (to the dog): Come here, puppy!
HER: He won’t come to you.
ME: We’ll see about that...

That changes my opinion a bit. I'm sure he had no poisoned treats, but in my head I'd assume he was going to grab the dog. Maybe a citizens arrest, which can go badly.
