(Reuters) - The coronavirus has been a far deadlier threat in New Orleans than the rest of the United States, with a per-capita death rate much higher than in New York City. Doctors, public health officials and available data say the Big Easy’s high levels of obesity and related ailments may be part of the problem.

I think New Orleans ranks higher on the Sh!thole Cities of the World list than even New York, so it seems logical that any pestilence would affect it more.
Add age, race and blood type for a more complete picture.

I mentioned that yesterday on another thread. I went to the Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit Michigan several years back which pulls in hundreds of thousands of people.. Never saw so many morbidly obese people in on place.
I was 6-2 230 at the time and my wife said I looked like a starving Ethiopian compared to the rest.

Blacks are more susceptible because of the melanin in their skin. They don’t make Vitamin D easily if at all, and VitD is a huge immunity booster. And here’s the irony, if they do get sun exposure, it tends to make their skin darker, making Vit D production even harder to accomplish. (My black students told me this because they never wanted to go outside in nice weather, they insisted on staying in the shade). I’ll bet most people who are able to fight it off have high or adequate levels of D in their system. Plus, from what I’ve been seeing in videos, the black community is not exactly complying with the social distancing thing. I’m seeing block parties and people congregating, which is a sure way to spread the virus if anyone among them has it.
Rural Dougherty County, GA has a higher CFR than New Orleans, and one of the highest CFR per capita worldwide. Why?

My spouse, a Wayne county native, mentioned the cigarettes. Michigan weather is depressing, cold and cloudy for long periods, not conducive to working out.
Watching “failed” Democrat, New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo going through his rant and rave act, on TV. Ya know if “BS” were gold, “BS” Cuomo would be the richest human being in the universe!!! But...as a true Leader and Manager......Cuomo gets a big fat “ZERO”. Every time I here him his sjhoot off his mouth...I want to puke!!! If it were not for POTUS, Donald J. Mardi Gras was at the worst time for Corona. Two weeks of daily parades with huge crowds. Many of the locals go to 5 or 6 parades. Many work in nursing homes.

Of course Mardi Gras is the reason. My point is now that the beast is loose in the city it’s going to hit the black population hard.
