(Reuters) - The coronavirus has been a far deadlier threat in New Orleans than the rest of the United States, with a per-capita death rate much higher than in New York City. Doctors, public health officials and available data say the Big Easy’s high levels of obesity and related ailments may be part of the problem.

This doctor says that diabetic, pre-diabetic, and fat people are more susceptible to death from CV than others. New Orleans certainly has plenty of all three.

None of the numbers for covid 19 cases or deaths has it broken down by race. IL is the only state I can find that mentions some numbers and it is highest with blacks. Whether it is due to race, living conditions, life style or general health... who knows... but it seems to be being avoided.
I’m inclined to think it’s something else, but that’s not quite politically proper.
I have been to both NY and NO.
Just casual observation, but it seemed to me that there were more “major leaguers” in NO than in NY.

Bullbleep. New Orleans problem is “because Mardi Gras”. I’m a south Louisiana native now living in San Antonio. I’ve never lived anywhere with as high a population of grossly obese people as SA. NO isn’t even in the running. Yet the SA coronavirus problem is nowhere near that of NO.
Wow. Maybe the reason their infection and death rate increased was because it happened just after Mardi Gras, where hundreds of thousands of drunk revelers were elbow to elboy for two days. DUH! Gotta give it to the genius reporters...
Mardis Gras, NFL playoff game would be my guess.
Mardi Gras helped bring it in and spread it.
So, fat shaming needs to go from prohibited to mandatory.

One contributing factor, is that New Orleans has a high number of “immune compromised” people, due to HIV.

If it spread in the Mardi Gras and ST. Patrick’s parades/parties, then there was probably a lot of yelling. Lots of inoculum going into the air. People could have gotten a heavier dose than usual.

Just remember this Americans and all Democrats, these states, California, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Louisiana, Nevada, New Jersey, Michigan, etc. all have Democrat Governors and every Democrat Governor, with the exception of the governor of California has failed miserably in leading and managing the deadly, fatal, virus crisis in their respective states. There is not one true leader or effective manager among them.
They are great politicians, who just rant and rave and bitch about this shortage or that shortage, like the low life, failure, Andrew Cuomo. Shucks Cuomo did nothing...if it was not for POTUS, Donald J. Trump, the USA military, Samaritan’s purse, New York would be over run with dead bodies, because Cuomo never lifted one finger to prepare his state of 24,000,000 people to cope effectively with this killer. Wake up New Yorkers...you elected a deadbeat, low life, Democrat...period!!! virus!!!
And it’s the same story for all the other states listed in this posting. So...Americans, All, you go right ahead and vote for a Democrat POTUS and soon you will neither be a free country, have your health, have your job, have a positive future, or have your lives!!! Case Closed!!! The choice is your American voters.
