New York Times columnist Paul Krugman is appearing to be having technical difficulties as he acknowledged Wednesday on Twitter that his IP address had been "compromised" and used to "download child pornography."
"Well, Im on the phone with my computer security service, and as I understand it someone compromised my IP address and is using it to download child pornography," Krugman wrote in the tweet. "I might just be a random target. But this could be an attempt to Qanon me. Its an ugly world out there."
Qanon is a reference to the group of conspiracy theorists who in recent years spread incriminating myths against many high-profile Democrats on social media.

Does Krugman like “pizza” with “cheese” and “pepperoni”?

Hey Krugman. In case the FBI hasn’t told you this, the first thing any pedophile says is that he was “hacked”.
I suggest you get with the Weiner to plot out your plea deal and time in jail.

I worry about this issue myself. My apartment house has its own computer network, which is available to everyone and works fine. However, many of the residents here are H-1B software engineers. If the Police ever show up at my door and accuse me of downloading porn, or committing financial fraud, or transmitting classified information with my computer, I would have NO idea how to defend myself. If you are that worried about it I suggest you get off the common network. At the minimum use a VPN.

I use one computer for surfing the net and the computer, that is not connected for my personal finances and stuff I don’t wish to be compromised upon

The CIA can put stuff on your computer that looks like it came from wherever they want it to look like. They can do it to any of us. You face can be undetectedly put into a video of a crime being committed. Digital photos are worthless now. That guy on the bank robbery recording could be turned into you. -PJ

Arent IP address assigned randomly each time you log on? In the days of dial-up the IP address was assigned by the dial-up server. In the more typical DSL, cable or fiber systems of today the router is assigned an IP address for a period of time, often more than one day. Address assignments can stay the same for a long time, and you can even end up with the same IP address after a router power cycle in some cases due to the way the ISP's systems hand out IP addresses.
So while the IP address is not typically a static assignment, it often only changes infrequently.

“Arent IP address assigned randomly each time you log on?”
Sometimes, but there are also computer-specific ‘fingerprints’ that you leave when you go to a website. That usually seals it for the feds.
