I heard this in passing on Rush's show and am not a 24/7 subscriber so I am unable to verify this through his app or website or even know if he sourced it from another website or publication.
I'm not trying to confirm what he said, only hoping to confirm the truth of what he said.

Specifically,I can't see the Federal courts...including SCOTUS...wanting to get involved in what could be seen as a political,rather than "legal",scuffle.
There are senate rules on impeachment, none of them have the effects claimed.
Clinton impeachment was a part-time affair, a few days on, a couple weeks off, a few days on. The senate can handle this however it sees fit.
As if demoncrats are going to abide by any rules.

Anyone, any senator or former presidential front runner who doesn’t respect that the electorate wanted and wants Trump in the White House does not care about rules.
I think it was Jim Robinson who pointed out how wrong it is for someone running for Trump’s job, to vote to remove him from office.
If the parties were reversed, the media would demand those senators recuse themselves.

However, the resolution from the Senate yesterday was VERY important: it showed Yertle has 50 votes RIGHT NOW for dismissal if the House even votes impeachment, which is why, as Rush correctly said, it will never happen.
Trump's going to be re-elected by a landslide. Their self-revelation assured it.
He's also going to cast the LIGHT OF TRUTH on them. That's why they're so panic-stricken.

I'll add another thought or two. If what Rush said is true, it's up to him to produce authority for the proposition. If he won;t, anybody who cares can look up the Senate Rules and Riddick's Procedure.
Even if what he said is true, you'd think the DEMs would view the time as well spent. Damage him enough using impeachment and the election becomes a cake-walk. No need to remove him via impeachment, the electorate will take care of THAT once the DEMs show how rotten hs is, using an impeachment trial as the venue.
I imagine they would also have to be kept off TV for talking head segments - that would cripple them and the cable nets.
These rules may keep senators out of commission and off the campaign trail for a few weeks but it wouldn’t keep Hillary off the trail, would it?

The constitution doesn’t state any rules for the impeachment process so they can do pretty much whatever they want, just like the House is doing.
