Tulsi Gabbard won't seek reelection to focus on White House run
Fox News ^ | October 24 2019 | Gerren Keith Gaynor

Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Tulsi Gabbard announced on Friday that she will not seek re-election to Congress in 2020 so that she can focus on her bid for the White House.

“I will not be seeking re-election to Congress in 2020, and humbly ask you for your support for my candidacy for president of the United States,” Gabbard said in a video published early Friday morning.

The decision to not seek a fifth term representing Hawaii’s 2nd congressional district makes way for a competitive race for her seat, reported Hawaii News Now. The local outlet points out that Gabbard’s absence from Congress “likely has repercussions for other local races.”

At best, I would love to see Tulsi replace Juan Williams on The 5.

Anybody but Juan. Can't stand him. Maybe Weird Al Yankovic or Ozzy Osborne in his place. And Tulsi on The View to wild applause there.

She is for Medicare for All, reparations, a $15 minimum wage, unlimited abortion, etc. How are these positions not “transformative”?

And cheered for Bernie Sanders. What's not to dislike?

Great post.

I am afraid many males are seeing her as a "tabula rasa" and they fill in the missing elements with dreamy, cuddly stuff that doesn't belong in hardball politics. Especially when the end of America is possible in January, 2021 if the "transformative" stuff hits the fan.

For people who didn't study Latin as I did (Spanish would have been more practical. Also wasted time on French.): tabula rasa is Latin. "an absence of preconceived ideas or predetermined goals; a clean slate."

Hard to say . Gabbard deferring to run throws an unexpected element on everything . It was assumed that she would drop out of the Prez run field and throw back in for CD-2. HRP is a joke . It used to be somewhat of a minor power but it has let everything slide. It might even be officially ignored by the RNC. Only a Trump visit would fire things up out here

She will be the new face of the decimated party. She wont switch she is looking to take over a dying party and make it better. Good luck with that.

"A third party run could hurt Trump more than whoever the Dem nominee is. Tulsi is appealing to many former-Democrat Trump voters in the midwest."

I disagree- I think that a Tulsi third party run will hurt the dim nominee more than DJT.

She’s no centrist. I don’t know why freepers like her but it can’t be her position on the issues if they bother to learn them. She may be against the rat establishment but she’s a darling of the far left, the people that care about issues and not just pouring haterade on Trump.

And she has no chance at a VP slot. Bernie is the only one who would even consider her.

Best case she does as they fear and runs third party, though I doubt it. More likely she’ll attempt to monetize herself in the media as many are speculating.

I’m trying to imagine how dumb you’d have to be to believe this crap.

Obviously she would split the Democrat vote and help Trump.

Obviously you aren’t paying close attention to the Gabbard threads here. She has many fans right here on this conservative based site. And if she has fans here, that means she has a lot more in ‘republican’ circles outside of our relatively small circle. It could very well be that Hillary is trying to provoke Gabbard to run third party.

If I’m dumb to believe this crap, imagine what it says about someone unwilling to spend 5 minutes to investigate what I wrote and instead choose to blindly defend a Bernie Sanders endorsing socialist willing to go from being pro life to pro taking of innocent babies lives for the sake of politics.

There are many more articles like this if you have the character to look.

‘Tulsi Gabbard’s Guru
Tulsi’s father, Mike, joined the Hare Krishna movement in 1973, when living in American Samoa. In 1983, the Gabbard family moved to Hawai’i and became involved with Chris Butler a.k.a. Jagad Guru Siddhaswarupananda Paramahamsa, who had split from the Hare Krishnas to form his Scientific Identity Foundation (SIF), the financial arm of his cult. Tulsi’s mother served as secretary/treasurer of the SIF until 2000.

In the summer of 2019, Tulsi told the NY Times that she is still guided by Butler who she considers her guru. So what is her religion? The author of the New Yorker article managed to get a telephone interview with the secretive Butler to try to answer this question.

Butler claimed, “I’m not a Hindu, I’m not a Christian, I’m not a Buddhist, I’m not a Muslim,” I’m an eternal spirit soul.” But Butler recognizes the usefulness of a recognizable label in politics, so he suggested a compromise to Gabbard: “I told her, ‘Why don’t you use the phrase “transcendental Hinduism”? And so she was found calling herself that in the congressional dining room.

However, Butler considers himself a Vaishnava Hindu acharyas (teacher) and now Tulsi Gabbard is calling herself a Vaishnava Hindu. In the video below, she is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first visit to the U.S. of the Hare Krishna movement’s founder. ‘

Could anyone that replaces her be less to the left than she is?

This is the "everything but Honolulu and environs" district, so one would expect it to be the less liberal of Hawaii's districts, but it has never gone to a Republican in 50 years. It was Maizie Hirono's district, and she is quite far to the left from what I've seen. Obama got over 70% of the vote and Hillary got over 60%.

Tulsi is no conservative, but she was about as far to the right as the district would elect. How many other possible Democrat candidates have a military record and a father who ran for office as a socially conservative Republican (before he switched parties to get elected)? Gabbard Sr. even ran as a Republican for the seat his daughter holds now and got whupped.

Running for VP?

Sanders won't get the nomination, and Hawaii is one state the Democrats can count on winning, so no.

But I won't say that it's entirely impossible. Every now and then somebody in politics thinks "It's a crazy idea. … So crazy it just might work," especially if their chances aren't looking too good or if the sane, rational, and responsible choice turns out to be wrong. Tim Kaine probably looked like an intelligent choice for Hillary Clinton and look how that turned out.

Will Gabbard run as a third party candidate? I don't think so, but again, I wouldn't completely rule it out. But she has a good shot at getting a job if a Democrat gets elected next year. It probably won't work out and she'll be miserable and make others miserable, but if she runs as a third party candidate, she's likely to end up with nothing.

It may be that she's frustrated with Congress and ready to try something different. Or she may actually think she can win. People who catch the presidential bug look at their chances differently from the rest of us.
