A second American civil war is nothing to look forward to

Similarly, today, it is surprising to hear with what composure, and how glibly, members of the public, and even politicians, talk of a second American civil war. Some conservatives assume that they, having more arms and more training and practice in using them, would quickly prevail over the soy-boy Left.

Proficiency with firearms will be no match for nuclear bombs, which Democrat Eric Swalwell has already suggested deploying domestically.

The Democrats are busy even now destroying the institutions of government, the institutions for the peaceful adjustment of differing interests. They are doing this through the Mueller witch hunt, bureaucratic and judicial sedition, and the illegitimate impeachment inquiry, and they are fomenting violence through their Antifa organization and their rhetoric.

“Proficiency with firearms will be no match for nuclear bombs”

Dumb comment. You can’t nuke your own territory/people. A 2nd Civil War would see lots of brother vs. brother action in cities by militias and individuals. It would be a gun battle to end all gun battles, but nukes would be ridiculous because there wouldn’t be a nice, neat point on the map to effectively eliminate unlike a war with another country.

(And no, I’m not part of any group nor am I advocating for anything. I’m just pointing out that “The Feds have nukes!!!” is a weak argument against civil war.)

Post-apocalyptic books use that all the time.

Usually the thesis is the leftists start to starve and jump into FEMA camps and many be used by the government as shock troops to motivate urban centers into compliance. Agrarian life springs up, hordes of marauding lefty thugs stamp out/kill resistance.

Of course, the “preppers” have compounds and a plan and eventually win.

Best writer on this subject is TRAVIS MCGEE.

PINGING TRAVIS MCGEE

When are you writing another prepper novel? I’m waiting. . .

Oh hell! Not a thing could go wrong for those who know how to survive without those...

Like the rural folks-or at least many of them.

But for the Urban/city people? It would not be good.

We don’t know how things will transpire between now and the election of 2020. There is going to be some kind of big showdown in the near future. Things will change in ways we haven’t imagined.

There is zero chance of a "hot" civil war in the United States where quality of life for all is at its highest levels in the history of mankind.

There are only two, very unlikely scenarios that could result in armed conflict. 1) door to door firearm confiscation, or 2) Stoppage of entitlement payments.

Short of this, no groups of meaningful size will take up arms for slow erosion of rights... it simply won't happen. I mean, look at what's been given up in the past 250 so years. We've given up more rights than our ancestors did resulting in the Revolutionary or Civil wars.

Quality of life is too high.

So rural people don’t go to Walmart once a week?

The question is who would the US military side with in a civil war. I do not think our volunteer military forces would in large part willingly turn their weapons nuclear or other on US civilians. If foreign governments or the UN landed their troops on US soil, I would expect most US military forces would defend the Homeland from invasion. A civil war would be more like Antifa street thugs running mayhem in the streets burning cities and looting businesses. With support from foreign governments Antifa may become armed and trained to commit acts of terrorism like political assassinations, planting IEDs and hostage taking. Civilian militias could also have a role defending their homes and businesses from the left wing. How would a civil war end ... I would expect the left would get little popular support political or otherwise and eventually be crushed in a conflict. The aftermath would be swift and full of vengeance. Politicians, the media and supporters of the leftist uprising would be tried and executed in large numbers.

I dont. A a good many I know dont.

Once a month? Then you have a point. Most of my personal purchases are done locally-so you’d have a point there.

Gasoline is another matter.

BTW-go to google maps and search Malin Ore. Scroll east for a few miles and take a look at that.

"... but we’d be fools to be caught unprepared."

I am not taking a shot at you, but how do "we" prepare?

I mean we all or most have guns, but using them in an organized fashion means training; lots of training.

Sit a bit and think how "we" can be trained in this society, today. How do we become a cohesive unit and remain under the radar?

The scenarios are numerous and fraught with almost overwhelming odds that suggests it can't won't happen.

Again, please believe I am not trying to start an argument. It is just that you make a good point about being prepared. I just can't envision a process from here to there, especially "under the radar", so to speak.

Actually, despite the fact that conservatives have more guns and more proficiency using them, they are law-abiding, family-oriented people. They will not shoot anyone for fear of prison and the resulting impoverished families. The left cares nothing about any of this. To quote Rhett Butler, they’d lick us in a week.

You bring up a good point. The leftists are soulless and without a conscious so they would kill much easier/quicker but, and this is a significant but, when conservatives see their callous disregard when their friends and loved ones are killed by any leftist; all bets are off. There is no longer a law and a code to follow. It will simply be kill all of them and let God sort them out. The only challenge will be identifying them, reloading fast enough, and of course staying alive to take as many out as possible before they get us.

Supplies will stop almost immediately. No power, water, or natural gas will flow so whatever people have on hand will be it. The war won't last long enough to grow food so livestock will be the primary food source quickly and will have to be protected and fed. A huge challenge all by itself.

Looting and general lawlessness will be the norm so banding together in groups will be the key to survival. Looters will target homes and businesses that have stockpiled food and supplies so being prepared today might mean it being taken away tomorrow.

Just hope you can trust everyone in the group because one traitor can kill everyone. Many will just want to end it because it will be more than they can handle. Young people are quitting their jobs because it's too mentally stressful. If 75% are doing that now; what percentage will simply fold up into a fetal position permanently when a war breaks out and are really challenged?

The left will try to take away all options except surrender then we would have to live with a yoke around our necks on our knees for the rest of our days. No thank you. I will take as many of them out as I can before I go down. Better to be taken out on my feet that slaughtered or made to be a slave on my knees.

Agree. CW II can be modeled similar to the war in the Pacific in WW II. The patriot areas (rural, heartland, breadbasket, watershed, Bible Belt) is the ocean. The urban areas are the Japanese-held islands. Bypass them, starve them.

Unlike WW II, you won’t need to invade them. Treat them like infected areas and quarantine them until the disease runs its course and the few survivors crawl out on their hands and knees.

. .. which reduces, mostly, to the Urban Cores versus the Hinterlands.

Where power, fuel, food, and raw materials come from.

If this happens, Logistics will win the war.

But then, Logistics **ALWAYS** wins the war. . .

You’ve got a lot of nerve posting common sense. But seriously, I agree with you. As long as the left (or the Deep State) does things slowly and legally, few people are going to get very excited.

And by “legally” I mean methods at at least appear to be legal. An example of that would be if Trump were removed from office by the method set out in the Constitution. That would be ugly. But it would also be legal.

There would be protests if that happened. And angry calls to Rush. But there would be no huge militias organizing a march on Washington. A couple pissed-off guys, maybe. But no huge militias that could brush aside the Capitol police.

“A civil war is the worst thing that can happen to a nation.”

I would have to disagree. In the 20th century China, Russia, and Germany descended into totalitarian tyrannies. In China, and Russia the communists gained power after they won their civil wars. But most of the deaths from government came after the CW. Germany had civil strife which led to the Nazis seizing power and millions died in WW2. Wouldn’t it have been better if Germany had a civil war in 1933?

Think what would’ve happened if Hitler, Stalin and Mao had not gained power. If tyranny can be stopped, lives can be saved.

Right now we have a potentially fatal operating system aka the federal government which is capable to killing millions if led by the wrong leader. We are hanging by a thread. It really was never supposed to be this way because our federal government was intended to be limited. That way incompetent or even bad presidents and bad congresses would not substantially harm the people.

We won’t take them in... as I said we have one demand - they split the cost of a wall between our two countries. Because when their citizens try to escape to our country we don’t want them... We can easily go another 200 years with our old Constitution and Bill of Rights. They won’t last 20 years before their citizens start being murdered. Totalitarian hellholes run by intelligence ‘elites’ are all the same... North Korea, Iran, then to a lesser extend the rest of the commie and command control countries.
