The Democrats are busy even now destroying the institutions of government, the institutions for the peaceful adjustment of differing interests. They are doing this through the Mueller witch hunt, bureaucratic and judicial sedition, and the illegitimate impeachment inquiry, and they are fomenting violence through their Antifa organization and their rhetoric.

The left doesn’t hate guns. They just want guns under their control. The left has a long bloodlust history for guns.
Many of us are considering that. My own opinion is that they'll largely stay out of the fray. Not all, but largely.

Spartens would not be avoiding conflict at all costs. They’d be willing to experience conflict so they could live as they wished and not need to endure all this garbage EVERYDAY.

Yep. And a lot of that thinking persists today. Some of it is on the left. But unfortunately most of it is in the right. “Yeah, if they impeach Trump (or whatever), we’ll arm ourselves and march on Congress.”
Well, okay. And then maybe Pelosi and co. will just fold, and it will all be so glorious. Or maybe it will be an awful, bloody mess. In the latter case, would it still be worth it? Only an historian 20 years from now could answer that question.

Leftist commentator Andy Rooney once stated that the worst thing Hitler ever did was to prove for all time that any peace isn’t necessarily better than any war.
To most of us, lining up entire villages, forcing them to dig mass graves and shooting them to be buried in the graves they had just dug was really bad. Rounding people up to work as slaves until they died of starvation was bad. Killing mental patients and the elderly was bad. Shipping people by rail to camps where they were gassed and then incinerated was bad.
But to the socialist, nothing on that list was as bad as showing people that giving in to government oppression was worse than fighting it.
They still relentlessly try to promote the idea that freedom and the means of self defense aren’t important. Or present the notion that preparation for a war in order to survive is the same as eagerly desiring war.
