Turkish jets struck a Kurdish base near the Iraq-Syria border late Monday night, the first grim fruits of President Trumps decision to order US forces out of the way a decision we fear Trump will come to regret.
Well grant that the president is delivering on a campaign promise here: Like most Americans, he doesnt want this nation serving as the worlds policeman; other countries should share more of the burden when it comes to both troops and money.
Or, as he tweeted Monday, it is time for us to get out of these ridiculous Endless Wars.
He has a point, big-picture but hes making a big mistake here. Leaving Syria puts multiple US interests at risk. Hes not putting an end to endless wars, hes planting the seeds for future ones.

Liz and Linda of Arabia could always resign and go fight with the the socialist sunni Kurds as mercenaries
Somehow a lot of Russian speaking Crimeans didn’t see Russias annexation as an invasion....but a correction of past history where they were gifted by Krushchev to Ukraine
Please remember...
The Kurds are Sunni Muslims.
Trump is going to turn the GOP into the anti war, anti FBI and anti CIA party. John Kerry should be rooting for Trumps election in 2020. What a hoot
There has never in history been a stable State in the current borders of Ukraine, and there isn't one now.
It makes (much) more sense for Austria to be part of Germany than it makes for L'viv and Donetsk to be in the same state.
To follow up, I think it is wonderful that trump is forcing a national rethink on many topics
If they were Christians, Jews or Whirling Dervishes the press would be fawning over Trump’s decision.
The issue boils down to an unwritten agreement with Erdogan.
There are Kurds and there are Kurds. Some Kurds are the incessant enemies of Turky. When those Kurds are under control, the other kurds can prosper.
Wow if they are that big of a force multiplier 1. They very bad ass 2. We could use those guys to defend the border the rest of the military can’t ... Oh wait we don’t have a scure border... Yeah the Kurds are our great friends.
They have been fighting for 2000 years. Why should we?
For the political crowd and their minions, accurate history and the truth about the "freedom fighters" it's currently fashionable to support are nearly as frightening as the photos of them sexually molesting a toddler showing up on Youtube.
If the Kurds can’t make it without 50 troops, that’s saying something.
Well when the wars are caused by the same Org controlling the alphabets, and the govts, and the goal of that Org is global enslavement and genocide of mankind, and they are run by lucifer himself, why would you want to be on their side?
There is only 1,000 troops in Syria. Get over yourselves. The Kurds & Turks have been fighting long before ISIS. We also control the airspace.
They are not stupid, they just forgot about history. The American people are likely to back the underdog in the being . But people tend to grow weary of a war that goes on and on. The Kurds have been in this situation for thousands of years. The United States used them for a purpose and the Kurds used the United States for a purpose. Thats the way power politics works. Very so often the Kurds tend to take advantage of the current situation and establish some form of independence and then reality in the form of one of their larger neighbors takes that independence away. The Kurds resist and them after a time make peace with the neighbor in order to survive. The Kurds have been doing this for thousands of years. The United States cannot change this and all the complaining by the Washington establishment cannot change it. The President is following the will of the American people. Imagine that.
He has merely moved from a kinetic war footing to an economic one. That warning about destroying Turkeys economy.... how do people miss it? Are they stupid?
I see it as a brilliant move. No blood, no treasure, and the sword of Damocles hanging over Erdogan’s head.
He may indeed be making a mistake here. Or not.
We are going to find out.
I don’t believe the colonial powers accidentally drew the maps in such a way that .. oops! .. it left all their former colonies in perpetual instability. Yes they were tribal but the Brits and the French etc knew which tribes hated which and in far too many instances to be coincidences they drew the borders to put them together. I believe it was a cynical strategy to cause permanent instability that would allow them to maintain control over lost colonies. Your mileage may vary.
Nope:
Trump doctrine: If they piss you off, bankrupt them and make money doing it leaving them pennyless.
Previous doctrine: If they piss you off bomb them and send our people to die and spend an assload doing it.
Nobody missed it but I don't think it was a serious threat. His wording - "...if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (Ive done before!)..." - is more along the lines of a troll of the media and the critics of his Syria order than any sort of policy. It's like when he turned to Putin at that news conference and said, "Don't mess with our elections." Nobody took that seriously and it was obviously meant to tweak his critics. I think this Tweet is in that same vein.
