New York is running out of fuel and power — just as Cuomo planned
NY Post ^ | 8/31/2019 | Post Editorial Board

Gov. Andrew Cuomo doubled down last week on his blame-the-messenger approach to New York’s growing shortage of natural-gas supplies by ordering the Department of Public Service to “broaden its investigation” of National Grid and threatening to “find another franchisee.”

Anything, rather than admit that his own policies are at fault.

The utility has stopped taking new gas customers in parts of Long Island, Brooklyn and Queens where it can’t handle the new demand — because Team Cuomo vetoed the proposed Williams pipeline to bring in supplies from New Jersey. (Jersey is also blocking the pipeline, since Gov. Phil Murphy is appeasing the same green extremists.)

National Grid gave months of warning that it would need to impose the moratorium if fresh supplies weren’t ensured.

Con Ed did the same in advance of its recent new-biz moratorium in most of Westchester, which was also prompted in good part by the nixing of new pipelines.

This is the point of the yearslong green war on pipelines: You can’t burn gas or oil you can’t get.

But would-be consumers are, of course, furious. Which leaves Cuomo and like-minded pols blaming the utilities. Hence the gov’s “broadened investigation” — which is supposed to find, what? That National Grid doesn’t want more customers?

Yeah, my sister lived in Newark Valley from 1980-99.

Time warp land.

The house they lived in sold for 10K more than they paid for it. LOL Fantastic appreciation with improvements.

Property values decreasing is one big, bad part of what you are talking about.

Don’t want to lose 40 or 50k or more for waiting too long.

Hell, New York is nothing.

Drudge warned readers for months and months that if he didn’t move Left he was going to be shut down.

Yet countless Freepers hate him for choosing survival.

Gov. Andrew, his brother Fredo believe that you shouldn’t use your state’s energy resources for cheaper energy and more tax revenue to your state’s coffers. To the benefit of its citizens.

No brainer.

Oh...

The Cuomos - LONG known for ‘killing off’ things like Nuclear power plants (Mario killed off that nuke on Long Island years back), babies and now the Williams pipeline ...

I can’t imagine how delusional that fool is.

That's where you're wrong. It's all by design.

This causes me to remember the 1952 (yes, 1952) Democrat convention that I watched part of on my parents’ new 21” B & W TV. They showed a movie eulogizing FDR and claiming that he ended the Great Depression. A great, memorable scene in that movie was when a group of theretofore unemployed factory workers heard a factory’s steam whistle, turned, looked, and, to their great happy amazement, saw smoke once again emerging from the factory’s smoke stacks, meaning they’d be back to work and earing wages.

There was the old Democrat party, a party that least gave lip service to work, employment, and wealth creation. Now it’s become a neo-communist, wealth and income destroying Luddite horror committed to income and wealth destruction, as can be seen from what Cuomo’s doing to the citizens of NYC by maliciously and deliberately denying them the clean energy they need to prosper and live well, all in service of the Green Superstition.

But undoubtedly the governor’s mansion will be well-heated and air-cooled.

DP - I was going to say the same thing as FPC; don't wait too long. If you have a job lined up now and can move to greener pastures - do it.

The straw that breaks your back and incentivizes you to finally leave may also rest heavy on your neighbor. Better to be ahead of the herd in this instance.

PA may not even be the best choice.....I have family that would leave if they could.

Maybe these morons can burn turtles and seagulls this winter. Predictions are for a severe winter for the northeast. Cuomo probably has his tickets for the Carribean reserved.

Thanks.

I am concerned about real estate prices dropping all at the same time.

Only place I could find work QUICKLY would be PA.

I’m not well traveled and don’t know many other areas.

No point in lying.

Kalifornia under Gray Davis did the same thing.

First they voted to not build anymore power plants.

Next, they capped the price that the power companies could charge their customers for electricity.

And when there was a huge increase in demand because of a hot spell, the utilities couldn't keep up.

So they tried to get outside utilities to bring in more power and were refused because they couldn't make any money.

When the outside companies demanded more money, politicians cried that they were taking advantage of them.

Liberals and their liberal politicians don't understand economics, free markets or competition. All they understand is big government fixing the problem.

When the real world clashes with their fantasy world, they whine and cry foul.
