New York is running out of fuel and power — just as Cuomo planned
NY Post ^ | 8/31/2019 | Post Editorial Board

Gov. Andrew Cuomo doubled down last week on his blame-the-messenger approach to New York’s growing shortage of natural-gas supplies by ordering the Department of Public Service to “broaden its investigation” of National Grid and threatening to “find another franchisee.”

Anything, rather than admit that his own policies are at fault.

The utility has stopped taking new gas customers in parts of Long Island, Brooklyn and Queens where it can’t handle the new demand — because Team Cuomo vetoed the proposed Williams pipeline to bring in supplies from New Jersey. (Jersey is also blocking the pipeline, since Gov. Phil Murphy is appeasing the same green extremists.)

National Grid gave months of warning that it would need to impose the moratorium if fresh supplies weren’t ensured.

Con Ed did the same in advance of its recent new-biz moratorium in most of Westchester, which was also prompted in good part by the nixing of new pipelines.

This is the point of the yearslong green war on pipelines: You can’t burn gas or oil you can’t get.

But would-be consumers are, of course, furious. Which leaves Cuomo and like-minded pols blaming the utilities. Hence the gov’s “broadened investigation” — which is supposed to find, what? That National Grid doesn’t want more customers?

Something like 800 people a day are leaving the city.

New York State could be a net EXPORTER of natural gas, if the surprising large quantities that could be released by fracking were permitted to be developed. Natural gas is going to be the bridge fuel to power this country until Thorium-fueled Molten Salt reactors are adopted on a wide scale. As another interim power source, the development and deployment of Plasma Arch Trash Disposal units to reduce and recycle the waste stream that comes out of New York City alone on a daily basis would end virtually all the need for land disposal sites that New York State had long ago ran out of, and could, in fact, be used to REDUCE these mountains of buried landfill trash.

“Reduce, Recycle, Reuse” is much more than just a slogan, you know. Technology already exists to make these strategies very much a highly efficient and cost-effective means to turn negatives into great social benefit.

But people are going to have to stop being such mindless jerks.

Republicans at all levels would do well to make an issue out of this. Trump could even go to NYC to do it.

Store this picture as this will more than likely be the same crowd marching in JAN when their heat and lights go out.

Sort of like the ‘ladies’ in Europe with their ‘Welcome Immigrants’ sign then being sexually assaulted

Enjoying all the fruits while complaining about them, how utterly stupid these morons are

Same here in New Mexico but worse! The state is #3 in oil and gas production and this year alone has $1.3 billion in surplus in the treasury and funds 45% of state government. The new far-left radical environmentalist governor, Michelle Lujan-Grisham, has declared war on the industry with new regulations and most recently an attempt to shut down new wells because they must flare methane until pipelines are available to move it. Natural gas is so cheap that some producters are paying to get it off the lease (oil is what brings in the $$). And with gas so cheap, she and her Rat cronies who control all state government passed legislation that will require NM electric companies to rid themselves of fossil fuel generation by 2045 and instead rely only on solar and wind generated power. The cost to our poor consumers will be much greater. It remains to be seen how long they will put up with it when the bills get higher. And BTW, she is trying to get the next legislature session to change the way the industry is regulated - currently the commissioners are elected, she wants the power to appoint them. Does this sound anything like the way Venezuela started its downward spiral?

There’s a lotta hinky energy-related chicanery going on in Upstate NY, both by the state and local governments.

Maybe if the Feebs can spare a minute someone there could bloody well look into it?!?

The exodus movement is going to grow. I think that’s what Cuomo wants. The bad part will be producers and workers leaving while the poor stay as they have little choice.

You said you are waiting until "...when even Staten Island is affected (by the big shots)".

Some advice. Don't wait too long. If you wait until everyone else realizes what is going on the exit get really crowded.
