Is there anything that could be done apart from developing some sort of rocket technology to destroy asteroids? I’d support that, but I don’t know how feasible it is or what the time-frame would be.

The greatest risk to world safety, including America is a catastrophic world collision with an asteroid which is made up of mostly metal. ( The gravelly ones are little to no threat.)

While it certainly is not science fiction, it is also not a new threat. It is a threat that has existed since the birth of earth. We may or may not be able to do something about it, but we certainly do not need to allow ourselves to become panicked by it either. If it happens then it happens, until then, continue on.
It would most likely hit the ocean with one big splash. Big deal.

Barring an asteroid ever smashing into us, I can think of uses for that technology.
It is foretold, and it is going to happen. Interesting that it doesn’t mention man’s attempt to prevent it. That man failed.

Well there are steps that can be taken to deflect it, if done early enough. Of course it’s easier said than done, since predicting its path with that level of precision is very difficult, if not impossible, and then there’s always the chance of accidentally deflecting it towards Earth (although if it hit the Northeast or California I’m not sure those areas would be any worse off).
Global warming is now an ice age in a year or so. Burn them fossil fuels! Release the cattle from the wrath of AOC!
