Let's not lose sight of the fact that our Founders invoked God, and specifically Jesus in many cases, in their deliberations and decisions.

It has been God who was the target of devotion with every prayer from the lips of every Mama, Papa and soldier in the field.

It has been God that was promoted with every bible or New Testament given to every military man (and now woman) upon entering the service.

Those are prayers to God we say when we learn of loved ones not coming home.

The scripture counsels us;

1 Thessalonians 5:18
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

So as I sit here on a Sunday morning, soon to get ready for church, I am also reminded that Jesus asked;

Matthew 26:

"36Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.
37And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.
38Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

39And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
40And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
41Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

I've been going to church since 1981 when I met Jesus at the age of 33 and I am worried about America because, well ... folks just don't seem that interested in going someplace for an hour or two in a week and hearing words from a man that desires only to teach and help the listeners to be better people.
(I chose those words carefully so more might be included in this gentle admonishment)

Memorial Day is for us to remember veterans (I am Army '65 - '68), but every soul lost in combat was an unaborted, beloved child of a Mama and Papa ..... a father or mother of a child ..... a brother or sister never to play rough house again.

Please take time today to spend an hour listening to words you probably never hear in an entire week .... or month ..... or year.

Our vets deserve divine remembrance

Correction... It is God working through us that is great.

If we think ourselves great, and are full of ourselves, we have no room for God to work through us.

Pride in self greatness is poison. Humility opens us to receiving God.

If God is with us;

Matthew 1:23 KJV
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

I think we can safely use the phrase as I've posted but, OK ... sure ... WITH means more than me, so ....

During the Civil War, four Methodist ministers came to visit President Lincoln on the “National Day of Prayer. “

“Mr President, we pray that God is on our side.” they proclaimed.

Lincoln replied, “That is not my concern. “ “But that we are on God’s side is my concern. “

Very wise words.

God is with us. If we have accepted Jesus in us, (True Communion), then our Father that is in Jesus is also in us. John 14 if I remember correctly.

Amen!

Absolutely everything Good that we get comes directly from the Sovereign Lord Almighty - JESUS, Messiah & Redeemer!

Most folks spit in His face and ignore His warnings.
In Joshua 24:15 it states:

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

I choose to serve the Lord, as does my family.

Colossians 3:24
Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

May God Bless and Protect His ever decreasing remnant in this nation and around the Earth! Amen!

And, before that, he said,

Josh 23:16: When ye have transgressed the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you.

And He did. He gave the northern kingdom to Assyria. Later, He gave the southern kingdom to the Babylonians. The Major Prophets detail the latter.

And, today, it's happening again.

Only a humanist, homo or atheist could deny America's greatness was a gift from God because nationally, culturally, we were ostensibly a Christian nation.

But since the 60s, we've substituted the religion of humanism for Christianity. We all moan about our enemies flooding into America via illegal crimigrants, but it's possible God is, once again, giving a gift to someone else. He did it to the Jews. He'll do it to us. I think that's what we're witnessing.

Dan 4:17: the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will

Bro, I think you are spot on.

God’s patience isn’t infinite. In fact, I’m shocked we haven’t witnessed His fiery Judgement yet.

All that we see falling apart around us are signs that we’re on the verge of a major collapse & burn.

Agreed. Wholeheartedly.

Jer 32:28: Therefore thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it:

This is God, giving a gift (that initially went to His faithful) to (the faithful's) enemies. There is a litany of offenses, but among them:

V.35: And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

Americans have murdered around 50 million of our unborn? Since '73? That was God's accusation against the Jews, viz. murdering their children.

I'm also surprised we've lasted this long. The only explanation might be that there are a lot of people here who are as irate as you and me about rampant sin. But our number seems to be shrinking. That, or the opposition is growing.

Yes, for anyone who has any doubt about it, it wasn’t “whiteness” that created the greatness of Western Civilization and its great flowering in the United States, but the belief in Jesus Christ and what he taught. Because of Jesus, the U.S. provided a home for Jews who are persecuted all over the world, and participated in liberating the Jews from Hitler and helped to establish the modern refuge of Israel.

It was because of Jesus that abolitionists and Union soldiers fought to rid this nation of slavery, as did Christians in England battle with their Parliament to end their trade in slaves. The great Civil Rights movement in the 1950s and 60s was fueled by Christian conscience and by churches, led by two Protestant Christian Presidents, Truman and Eisenhower, who both worked to integrate the U.S. armed forces as well as advancing the cause of Zion. Under Eisenhower, the first Civil Rights legislation was passed since Reconstruction, nearly 100 years after the Civil War, vigorously opposed by Democrats and Dixiecrats, who today reject God openly and continue to stoke racism, sexual immorality, a variety of hatreds, and babykilling to get votes.

No nation will ever be perfect; ours is no exception; because this is a fallen world. But the United States as conceived by its Founders and for its first 200 years, and its nearly 170 years of colonial history before that, was a Christian nation, a nation unafraid to acknowledge God, to pray unapologetically, to atone for sins and repent of them, and to aspire to the humility of equality before the civil law, to government by the People because they were a people of a single moral code, and to equal opportunity under the freedoms granted by a sovereign God to His children.

Let’s not be afraid to pray to that God again for a renewal of an America united under the rule of law, and a society with the Ten Commandments as its moral standard.

Yes, I think that is what is important.

The answer’s obvious, but there’s a bit more.
When I signed up in ‘98, “knarf” was sufficient, but as time and computers continued to “advance” ... they demanded more.
Being old(er), I knew enough about my memory that I shouldn’t be crypto-clever, so I began tagging my handle with my birthday ... 229.
FR is the last bastion for knarf for thenceforth I have been “knarf229”
It’s my best defence against CRS disease ...
