New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said on MSNBC Monday morning his city will ban “inefficient” steel and glass skyscrapers as part of their Green New Deal.
While Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal sputtered in Washington D.C., her home city of New York has embraced key pillars of the plan.
When asked about it on Morning Joe, de Blasio outlined the proposal.
“We are making the Green New Deal come alive here in New York City,” he said. “It’s three very basic ideas. One, the biggest source of emissions in New York City is buildings.”

The ‘old timer’ told the guard the last time he was in France was in 1944 and there were NO ‘official’ Frenchmen to be found and he damned sure didn’t have a passport..

In truth, Mass Timber is an exceptional new building technology even for tall buildings. Let the market decide though. When the price point is right, industry will move.
I’m all for reducing the all-glass sided monstrosities. They suck for migrating birds, and can’t hold a candle to buildings such as the Empire State or Chrysler Building.
The mayor added that New York’s government is going to get all its energy from renewable sources “in the next five years.”
Yeah, they can probably run the city on biomass gas, derived from composting all of DeBlasio's bullcrap.

I’m getting closer to packing and going to PA every day.
Until then, Staten Island will remain relatively sane enough and the surrounding waters good enough to keep manhattan’s filth away for a while longer.
I enjoyed working in Manhattan in my younger years. I no longer do.
The wife can quit and move with me, or I’ll come visit her on weekends until she retires :)

I’ve lived in an adobe house. Nothing better. Cool in summer and warm in winter. Not so sure you can make skyscrapers out of them though.
Moslems already did some of the work for them with the WTC.
