Vanity: Relief Should Not Induce Us or the President to Forget How We Got Here
me ^ | March 24, 2019 | me

Posted on 03/24/2019 3:03:43 PM PDT by JOHN ADAMS

As a long-time denizen of this wonderful board, I share our immense relief and happiness that the obvious lack of truth to the claims of collusion has been recognized by Mueller. Sometimes the facts really do matter more than the narrative.

But I think it behooves us, and the public at large, and the President, to ask how in the world we got the point where this long, ridiculous "investigation" was necessary. People who knew it wasn't true drove this. They should be unmasked (you'll pardon the expression).

In addition, as sweet as this victory is, we should remember that, exactly as planned, this investigation paralyzed the Trump administration for over two years. It dramatically impaired the President's effectiveness; it intimidated wobbly Republicans into not supporting him or his initiatives. In that sense, our enemies really did win something, even if they didn't win anywhere near as much as they hoped.

As a general matter I don't advocate, or heed, calls for revenge. But in this instance I think that the country needs, and is entitled to, exposure of the facts regarding the conduct of what clearly was a (thank God unsuccessful) attempted coup.

Not to forget the role "Never-Trumpers" played in all of this.
Although many will try to "re-image" themselves.
First up, Rich Lowry, National Review:

"The Mueller report is also a blow to the true anti-Trump diehards on the Right, who either assumed the worst and/or were rooting for it. They thought a bombshell Mueller report might open the space for a real primary challenge of Trump. Today makes that less rather than more likely."

Almost as though Rich was a Trump loyalist from day one!

And Schitt and nadler and a million others are telling us it’s far from over and they KNOW there was collusion.

Time for Trump to start taking people down.

Trump is winning, and he knows it.
I bet he sits tight for a while.
He won’t punch back until has has to.
I believe his timing has proven to be impeccable.

Whatever happened to the old Japanese tradition of hari-kari? They have definitely besmirched the honor of the media worldwide.

“Seppuku, sometimes referred to as harakiri, is a form of Japanese ritual suicide by disembowelment. It was originally reserved for samurai, but was also practiced by other Japanese people later on to restore honor for themselves or for their family....;” Wikipedia

Nothing short of a huge armed mob on the DC mall demanding justice will bring justice.
Our elected leaders have done nothing and will continue to do nothing.

It’s just too far gone.

That’s why our founders gave us the 2nd amendment.
The problem is once we start such a thing, all bets are off.
Life might change in an unpleasent way, people don’t want that.
Yeah , it’s crazy talk but, I look for nothing to happen to the traitors.

Remember this?

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/12/us/politics/nsa-gets-more-latitude-to-share-intercepted-communications.html

WASHINGTON — In its final days, the Obama administration has expanded the power of the National Security Agency to share globally intercepted personal communications with the government’s 16 other intelligence agencies before applying privacy protections.

The new rules significantly relax longstanding limits on what the N.S.A. may do with the information gathered by its most powerful surveillance operations, which are largely unregulated by American wiretapping laws. These include collecting satellite transmissions, phone calls and emails that cross network switches abroad, and messages between people abroad that cross domestic network switches.

I thought it odd at the time. Now I don’t.

There never should have been an Obama administration.
He is not a natural born citizen.
Both parties colluded to violate the Constitution and that’s why none of the participants will ever see justice.

This is what I had in mind:

Now, with Mueller finished, it is time to give equal attention to the other side of the story, of how we got here. The questions can be boiled down to two.

Was the initial decision to investigate Trump’s campaign an honest mistake by the Obama administration? Or was it an attempt to rig the election in favor of Clinton, and when that failed, overthrow a duly elected president?

Those outstanding issues are as worthy of complete answers as those that Mueller investigated. In addition to knowing whether there was an improper relationship between a candidate and a foreign power, Americans also deserve to know what was going on inside their own government and whether it was simply incompetent or thoroughly corrupt, or some combination of the two.

Put another way, what did President Obama and his administration do, and why did they do it?

Watergate was about spying on the opposition party. This looks like it was a full blown coup attempt.

They should answer for it, but who knows?

Lowry just needs to embrace his inner sporkweaselness and ride it out with the rest of the NR weasels, including Trixie’s boy, and head right on down the drain.

Speaking of NR weasels:

"...nothing in Barr’s letter excuses the fact that Trump hired and surrounded himself with some of the worst people in politics — felons and liars who sometimes committed crimes in the ham-handed attempt to cover up their own contacts or attempted contacts with Russian assets or operatives.... each engaged in patterns of deception that were not only criminal, they created real and genuine alarm in fair-minded Americans that at least some people in the president’s inner circle were more than willing to work with our enemies abroad to gain financial or political advantage here at home."

David "Never-Trumper" French. What a pant-load.

Trump’s recent remark about McCain and calling for Barr to investigate Comey, Strzuck, page etc. shows he hasn’t forgotten about who got us there.
