Police shot and killed an unarmed teen who ran away from a traffic stop Tuesday night in East Pittsburgh, authorities said.
Authorities identified the dead teen as 17-year-old Antwon Rose, a Woodland Hills High School student who district officials said was one English class shy of graduating. He had been riding in a car linked to a non-fatal shooting 13 minutes earlier on North Braddock's Kirkpatrick Avenue, according to Allegheny County police.
A 22-year-old man wounded in the North Braddock shooting was treated and released from a hospital.
The deadly shooting in East Pittsburgh happened at 8:40 after borough police pulled over a car near Grandview Avenue and Howard Street about 1½ miles from the scene of the North Braddock shooting. Officials said the car matched the description of one involved in the earlier shooting and appeared to have gunfire damage to its back window.
As an officer arrested the 20-year-old driver, two people ran from the car, police said. The officer opened fire, hitting Rose.
Rose was taken to UPMC McKeesport, where he was pronounced dead at 9:19 p.m., officials said.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
If he was unarmed and running away it’s going to be really hard for the police to trot out their usual tales of “I was in fear for my life” or “He lunged at me”.
Not saying the dead teen didn’t ask for it, just saying that the police might not be able to cover up some cop just shooting the kid in the back because the cop was too tired, impatient, or out of shape to chase him.
Man, if you’re in a car that is involved in a shooting, you’ve got to expect maximum touchiness from the responding police.
Or, doesn’t the fact that the initial shooting was non-fatal make the police response oppressive?
Hmmm. And what happened between these two actions? Is there something being omitted, perhaps? Such as the unarmed teen rushing at the cop?
Just one English class away from graduating. Obviously a prime candidate for college recruitment.
Sounds like Ant lost.
The fleeing felon rule.
This one didn’t have any arms either.
Not how I remember seeing him.
“Unarmed” is established after the fact, not before or during the chase. What the Cops knew was that he was evading arrest in connection with a known shooting.
There is a tendency for police to shoot someone because they run away from a car stop or another police involved situation.
Yep. They protest the crap out of the cops but they say jack diddly squat about gang violence as if drive bys are a right. I grew up in New York city and got caught in the middle of a drive by in the 1990s on 115th street and Broadway, I was walking downtown and the guys they were aiming for were ahead of me and just *snap* just like that pop pop pop pop I didnt even know what hell was going on at first and saw cement chip off a building next to me and zip I must have ran 6 blocks without stopping. But that could have killed me, innocent people get killed all the time in drive bys and the left says NOTHING, NADA, about it!! Even when kids get killed as if its a right to shoot people. You cant own guns, but hey, playing gangsta is perfectly OK
Have you noticed that the Tribune Review has completely jumped the shark and went full libtard? It started about the same time that they dropped the print edition and went all digital. The Trib used to be the Conservative newspaper in S.W. Pa. It doesn’t seem to be any longer.
” Unarmed is established after the fact, not before or during the chase. What the Cops knew was that he was evading arrest in connection with a known shooting.”
Local radio news reporting that 2 guns were found in the car.
When the thugs escalate the game, police need to respond.
Braddock is a $#*+hole burb of the burgh where the Trump hating mayor is now running for Lt. Governor so he can help Gov. Wolf bring the $#*+hole atmosphere in his city to the entire Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The good mayor has just lost 148 lbs, I think he wants to be less of a target, given the neighborhood.

Yep. In before the cop haters. Law enforcement 1, street killer 0.
They don't need to. Fleeing the scene after shots were fired from that car, wounding a person? [While perhaps only confirmed after the fact, the guns in the car show that it was the right car.] That's a solid case of a fleeing felon who can reasonably be presumed to pose a risk to others.
Tennessee v. Garner, 471 U.S. 1.
A police officer may not seize an unarmed, nondangerous suspect by shooting him dead...however...Where the officer has probable cause to believe that the suspect poses a threat of serious physical harm, either to the officer or to others, it is not constitutionally unreasonable to prevent escape by using deadly force.
