Multiple Republican senators broke with President Trump on Wednesday after he announced on Twitter than transgender troops would be banned from serving in the military.
In separate statements, GOP Sens. John McCain (Ariz.), Joni Ernst (Iowa), Richard Shelby (Ala.), and Orrin Hatch (Utah) all criticized Trump for his decision that Obama-era rules allowing transgender troops to serve would be reversed.
McCain, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, ripped the call and said that Trump shouldn't be making policy announcements via tweet.
The Presidents tweet this morning regarding transgender Americans in the military is yet another example of why major policy announcements should not be made via Twitter," McCain wrote in his statement.
The statement was unclear," he added. "The Department of Defense has already decided to allow currently-serving transgender individuals to stay in the military, and many are serving honorably today. Any American who meets current medical and readiness standards should be allowed to continue serving."
"There is no reason to force service members who are able to fight, train, and deploy to leave the military regardless of their gender identity."

This does not effect Gay members at all to my understanding. There have always been gay members of the military service, sometimes closeted, sometimes openly. The rules on fraternization are the same for all service persons.
Trans individuals need special accommodation and cause stress by wanting to use the opposite sex facilities in addition to the need for drug therapy and ongoing dilatations etc.
Yes!
And the disastrous effect he had on America illustrates why the Founders were so careful to specify only a natural born citizen, could be President. It was such duplicity to argue the definition of natural born citizen when all the contemporaneous writings clearly defined the condition of natural born citizen. Maybe after we MAGA that loophole created by "0" can be closed by Congress.
The usual suspects.
” I’ll remember this when his term is up.”
So will I.
I wish I could of served. tried to but my medical history caught up with me on a security clearance issue for my Mos while I was going through basic and I was discharged.
I will restate hopefully better for you my position because every one has been responding like I thought that the military should put up with the transgendered crap.
1. it is a mental illness.
2. it should only be an issue with the military if the person makes it an issue there are serval ways that could happen
A. the person try’s to get the military to treat them as the opposite sex from what they were born as.
B the person takes any sort of medical treatment for this.
if the person does any of this they should be gotten rid of because obviously as a lot of you have pointed out they are to unstable to be in the military.
there has always been people who have suffered this mental disorder and as far as I am concerned if they keep there thoughts to themselves and wait tell after they serve to indulge in there disorder I could care less if they are in the military.
basically (((Don’t ask Don’t tell))
Right? This was just something allowed in the last two years before Ozero left office. I’m sure everything will be okay with the ban back in place.
Thanks for the information.
Let’s not forget, Shelby was a rat who switched cause the Senate and his state turned Republican. In the his fraudulent 1986 victory over conservative GOP Senator Jeremiah Denton he told shameful lies.
He’s mostly voted well since, but sometimes not.
Anyway this is GREAT thing the President has done. Tranny loving RINOs can shove it.
Republicratic Party’s Finest on display showing their true colors. They’re as useful as a football bat.
Right now its just a tweet with no order to the military.
Timed when most conservatives are annoyed by Trump's ridiculous Sessions tweets.
Lest see what he really gets done with this.
Agree. I assumed Trump would be squishy on fighting the "gay rights" agenda so this announcement is excellent news, IMO. We need troops who are focusing on winning wars instead of getting taxpayers to pay for them to get estrogen injections.

Okay, valid point there. Let's hope this isn't just an off the cuff comment to create "buzz" and he follows it up with an actual executive order to roll back the Obama era regulations. When the liberals were living in their alternate reality last November and screaming that Trump will ban all the gay rights stuff, I remember there was some "conservative" rebuttal meme saying "If Trump actually dissolves all gay marriages, I will stand with you in opposing him--" Huh? I wouldn't. I'd applaud him if he did that.
Same problem with Walter Jones in NC.
This shows that the fix is in, and it's been in for a very long time.
Thousands if not millions of faithful voters break with Republican senators in all future elections!
Joni Ernst!
Gunnery Sargent “Bayonets sir? Is this the 19th century?”
2nd Lt. “No, but we can't afford ammo, we're paying to have Capt. Snuggles d**k cut off.”
Trump is doing what top military leaders recommended, and I don’t think there will be negative political consequences. But you know how even a “conservative” SCOTUS acts on this kind of issue. In 15 years, we may have a transgender military in which WE will be paying for the hormones, operations, and counseling. And that would be wrong.
Do we have a source for that?
