Axios reported that Trump floated the idea that the new border wall could be covered in solar panels and the electricity generated used to pay for the cost.
Since the solar panels will be facing south, we would be using Mexican sunshine to power them so Mexico would be paying for it AND it will be 'environmentally-friendly'. So it's a win, win, win.
Bruce Blakeman of Sustainable Technology, Inc. provides insight about the solar powered border wall proposal President Trump allegedly told Congressional GOP leaders about this week.

It only took Post #2 to articulate what I was thinking. :-) Solar Panels on a border wall? Probably not a good idea unless they are bulletproof. Trump throwing some phony red meat to liberals.
Well now, aren't we wasting a lot of money burying nuclear waste in Yucca Flats and elsewhere? Let's repurpose that nuclear waste by burying it under the wall with Mexico. Along with a warning sign in English and Spanish not to trespass or you will fry. Of course we'll be sure it doesn't contaminate ground water, and only contaminate those trying to climb the wall. Radiation detectors some distance away from the fence on our side will detect radioactive intruders where they'll be detained and escorted back to Mexico. Within a year, Mexico will be begging their people to stay away from the border.
“Axios reported” = automatically fabricated “news”
stopped reading right there.
axios is the sister propaganda site of politico, which is banned here. axios should be banned here too.
Trump knows that the idea has no merit but since it is an idea that the libtards would normally have come up in other applications, he’s going to use the opportunity to play with them like a cat with a mouse....
Or giant hamster wheels... Even more humiliating and rediculous.
Ask Mexicans if they want to become Americans. Build the wall on the bottom of Mexico.
An alternate design would be to have a solid vertical wall with a tee at the top and the solar panels placed atop the tee with the proper southward tilt to maximize the sun-catching ability. the height and angle would protect them from the impact of any thrown rocks and would minimize the exposure to gunfire. It can be built wide enough for border patrol agents to walk along the top, which would also double as a convenient way to clean the solar panels as needed for maximum efficiency. And if the Mexicans want to graffiti their side of the wall, who cares? It wouldn’t be visible from our side.
Power Jerry Brown’s lite rail.
Could work, the solar resource is high along the border. Post snipers to return fire and you’d put an end to plinking in a hurry.
What a crock pot stupid idea.
Yeah, a solar panel wall is only practical if your side of the wall is closer to the equator.
If he’s trolling them, he could propose a “wind energy” wall, with a promise it will ONLY kill Mexican birds, no American ones. Watch the enviros sputter.
Lets just build the damn thing then we can go back to futile attempts to placate enviro libtards
I first showed some time back, a solar wall is a vandalism hazard, due to it’s southern exposure.
But to attract Democrat support, solar is a win win because they love spending other’s money for feel good causes.
It does not have to work or be effective.
But if solar feel good gets the wall built ...
... Trump is a genius!
Solar panels are attractive to selfish environmentalists and repulsive to physics majors and businessmen. Solar panels take 75 years to pay off.
Since when have solar panels been cost effective? The cost to build and maintain them will far exceed what they give back.
I need to see proof that Solar Panels make a profit with out taxpayer subsidies.
Hey that was my idea sort of. I proposed that they make an elevated high speed rail because lefties love trains. Guess they could put highway under the rails or vice versa.
No problem.
Build the wall about 30-40 feet north of the actual border.
Use some of the electricity to power a tazer-like electric fence 2 feet north of the actual border.
I’m sure a number of folks have thought of it.
It’s probably impractical, but I sure do like the thought.
Train would be nice too.
You know, I used to travel to school by train. I’ve always enjoyed trains. I haven’t ridden them all that much in life, but every once in a while.
