Attorney Cathy McCulloch had a client who was accused of eight counts of raping his own daughter over a six year period. The man adamantly denied that he had ever laid a hand on his daughter, but the girl gave a very "compelling interview" to police and shared explicit details of the crime.
Her client mentioned that his daughter's favorite book was Fifty Shades of Grey, and it appeared that she may have been using material from the book to give her testimony.
After picking up a copy of the book, the team found 17 different examples pointing to the racy novel as material for the girl's accusations against her father.
After just seven minutes, she broke down and admitted she had made up the accusations to teach her "strict" father a lesson. After the prosecutor re-examined the girl a second time, the father was granted an immediate acquittal.
Women never lie about this stuff.
Sounds like a 21st century, post-modern episode of Perry Mason.
She should go to jail for a long time.
Wow. How do you repair a family after THAT? I’m betting you don’t.
Score another one for taking God out of every aspect of our lives!
Pardon my French, but, what a hateful little bitch!
I could never trust her in my presence again.
Go live somewhere else! You, the one who doesn’t want a father.
Not looking forward to Thanksgiving dinner this year. Just a guess..
Poorly written headline
Hmmmm....my first thought reading the headline was that the father was going to claim that the book made him do it...
How old ws she? The piece doesn’t say. What kind of parents allow children to read things like this? A well raised child hasn’t much interest in reading stuff like this.
I try to keep up on what is out there in popular culture. As you get older, it gets harder to keep tuned in.
I’ve never been interested in the 50 Shades of Gray genre (per se), but I did want to know what folks were talking about.
Mid July the movie was offered on iTunes for $4.99. I scooped it up. I still haven’t watched it, and don’t have plans to soon.
I didn’t want to give the company money for it, but I doubt I’ll ever get access to it for less.
The way it was advertised, I thought it would be abysmal. I hold that view to this day. This young woman’s use of it, tends to verify my take on it, but I’m sure most people watched it and didn’t do something like this.
I submit that it probably did twist people in ways that weren’t good for them or their current or future partners.
Some ideas are best left not presented.
That’s what I thought. Sounds like the father was under control of that little piece of porn and needed medication, not jail time.
Satan is loving it. Either acquitted or convicted he destroys another family.
Uhm....Wow and never speaking to her again or anyone associated with her....
My response.
“You don’t exist....”
If that was my daughter she’d be 50 shades of black and blue by now ... but only if I was in a forgiving mood.
And a BAD one!! :)
seven minutes!!
Hope she is never in control of any sensitive information.
I close my eyes and see Arlen Specter at the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings...
That spiteful little bitch is a perfect example of why some parents disown their kids...
I agree. But still...a very tough call. Throw your daughter out of the house?
