On the pleasant summer evening of July 17, 1996, TWA Flight 800 left JFK Airport in New York bound for Paris. Twelve minutes after takeoff, about ten miles south of the popular south shore of Long Island, at least two surface-to-air missiles blew the 747 out of the sky, killing all 230 people on board.
I write the above with 100 percent confidence. I owe that confidence to the efforts of a small corps of committed individuals -- eyewitnesses, independent researchers, whistleblowers from within the investigation, and family members who have turned their grief into action. In attempting to get at the truth, at least three of these people were arrested, several others were thrown off the TWA 800 investigation, and every one of them was ridiculed.

What makes the story so compelling is that these everyday citizens have struggled against a Goliath that could not have been more powerful. In a totalitarian country, authorities can suppress information at will. In America, the media have to collaborate in that suppression, and this they did, closing their eyes to the obvious and accepting without evidence the governments unproven theory of a spontaneous fuel tank explosion.

I live on Long Island about 15 miles from where TWA800 went down. I know some of the LEO who were involved and when I spoke with them about it they all said the same thing “shot down”.

Was the passenger list ever made public? Was this plane targeted specifically or was it simply a plane that happened to be nearby when they were ready to fire?
According to reports, the plane was at 16,000 feet when it exploded about 12 minutes into the flight.
The FIM-92 Stinger has a range of 16,000 to 25,000 feet depending on what source you read. So why do you rule out a shoulder fired missile.

I thought it was odd at the time, that it was right after the TWA 800 crash, that they started requiring us to show ID at airports. I always wondered if there was some connection.
I remember that night, I heard people that were out on the water and they stated they saw vapor trails and said it went right to that plane.

I saw it live. It was an interview. Long ago now.
That is the harridan responsible for the intelligence wall that led to 9/11. She was eyeball deep in the TWA800 cover up and was a pig at the trough working at Fannie Mae, cashing in just before Housing crisis.
She is one person who deserves to be jail for the remainder of her miserable life. Not only does she have blood on her hands, she's at least partly responsible for one of the greatest losses of wealth in history.

I have my TW0800 19MAR96 boarding pass tacked to my office wall. I'm looking at it now. I have no idea whether it went on to Tel Aviv after we landed in Paris.

The only possible explanation was that an exercise involving a target drone hit the plane. There was no explosive residue found, only “pass through”-—although that certainly wasn’t conclusive.
A Freeper whose name I forget, an aviation specialist, went through the details including photos at great length years ago. He debunked any missile strike. But even for those who still claim it was a missile, as you correctly say, 800 was too high for a Stinger. Only a Navy Standard missile could have hit it-—but 800 would have been utterly shattered. Instead, there is pretty good evidence that a door developed some sort of bulge, that this in turn led to a fuel line interaction with a spark.
But it’s been years since we went over all these things. All I remember is the one key piece of evidence, namely there was no explosive residue anywhere, only a minute trace of what could have been “pass through” residue, as if a missile “got away” from the Navy and went right through 800 without exploding.
