It looks to me, now that Trump is looking like he can beat HRC, the administration is starting to cut her loose. The State Department is setting her up for an indictment. This will clear the way for Biden to run in November. Am I wrong? We'll see.
How will Joe Biden fend off Bernie Sanders?
I’ve been saying Biteme/Fauxahontas for weeks.
Too late.
Too late for even a brokered dem convention.
Only if Hillary steps down which she will not do.
I think you’re probably on the right track.
You couldn’t me ore wrong if you tried. Hillary Clinton will never be indicted. Democrats have nothing to gain from her being indicted, and they only make it that more possible they can be indicted. Obama is never going to let her be indicted. Would he ever make it that much more possible that he could someday be indicted? Dream on.
I think they also knew Terry McAuliffe was suppose to be Hillary’s VP running mate.
cough cough plop plop...
Local Virginia radio was saying that McAuliff was supposed to take the DNC position from Wasserman Shultz, then... uh, oh! Never mind...
I’ve been worrying about that for a while, sort of hoping that Trump keeps his powder dry until a bit later in the season. But I dunno . . . could be too late already for that. I don’t know how any Democrat would be able to run in an environment where Hillary Clinton is standing trial for exposing national secrets.
“The State Department is setting her up for an indictment. This will clear the way for Biden to run in November”
Yeah, because the guy and his supporters (Sanders) that came in 2nd will totally just say “Eh, whatever” to that?
And why the hell do people just assume you can just switch this dude in like it was no big deal, with no opposition, and not look like the entire DNC is in disarray?
“How will Joe Biden fend off Bernie Sanders?”
He wont.
People have just constructed some mythology around this guy like he is some sort of super-canidate.
She will step down when threatened with an orange jumpsuit for fear that her thighs will show more prominently.
It’s possible. but not necessarily desirable.
Sanders has many, many delegates. Biden doesn’t have one.
Yes you are wrong.
Isn't there a vanities option for useless opinions like this one?
I thought Free Republic was a news and substantive discussion site for news and informative food for thought.
If FR has changed, I didn't get the memo.
Plus, it takes a long time to get people ready to vote for a candidate. Even though Biden's been VP for two terms, it's going to be hard to get voters to think of him as their candidate for president with only a short lead-up to the election.
It's striking how Obama is distancing himself from Hillary -- she would never intentionally put America at risk -- but if she were going to be replaced it would have happened by now.
The other thing is optical illusion the race is tied or Trump is ahead.
If Hillary unifies her party around her, most of the partisans will fall in line and she’ll be ahead again.
Right now, Trump has benefited greatly from the end of the GOP race and getting the party behind him - that’s why he is leading or competitive at the moment.
Democratic internal divisions and infighting have made it difficult for Hillary to consolidate support.
As long as that’s the case, Trump can press ahead knowing he is the underdog in the general election campaign.
I think they stay with Hillary.
Not so sure.
They will have a similar problem that the Pubbies were thought to be heading for.
If Hillary is forced out, how can Biden or Pocahauntus be the replacement, when Freebie Bernie is still an active candidate?
If Hillary came down with a severe or deadly illness/accident, that might give cover to ‘appointing’ a replacement. But the Sanders people would scream loud and long.
Any replacement would face the same issue a Ryan or Romney or other ‘convention’ appointee would: what gives you the nomination without any primary votes?
Won’t happen. It will be Clinton and Sanders to the convention.
