How to substitute Biden for Hillary while sidelining Sanders?

Step 1 - Hillary gets the Dem nomination at dem convention in late July.

Step 2 - Harry Reid and/or DNC chairman insists that Sanders stay in Senate seat because of possible Dem take-over of Senate.

Step 3 - Hillary has a "medical crisis" which requires her to drop off the ticket. Dem leaders have an emergency "second convention" and select Biden to fill the ticket (probably retain the VP selected in July).

Hillary will have enough delegates to prevent Sanders from winning on the first ballot. Biden will win on the second ballot if Hillary is indicted.

“How will Joe Biden fend off Bernie Sanders?”

It’s all about timing. The Administration will hold off any indictment until at least a couple weeks after the convention is over. This way, Bernie-mania will be considered “over”, and they will bring in the emergency white knight Biden to save the day.

I believe at this point this is a very plausible scenario. If the Administration thinks HRC is toxic and can’t win, no way will they take their chances with her against Trump. The Dems don’t operate that way — they play to win.

Now whether Biden can beat Trump is another matter entirely. Biden provides a target-rich environment for Trump to make fun of. But at this point, he’s probably the best hope for the Dems.

What if Hillary goes to the dims convention, gets the nomination and select Joe Biden as vice president? Then she steps aside. Biden steps up to the top spot on the ticket.
