Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said in an interview airing Sunday that GOP front-runner Donald Trump may encourage riots if he does not win the Republican nomination in Cleveland this summer.
Asked on CBS' "Face the Nation" if he was concerned about the possibility of violence if he were able to "overthrow" Trump with the delegates in Cleveland, Cruz insisted there wouldn't but said that Trump might try to fan the flames.
"No, it won't, although Donald may do everything he can to encourage riots," he said. "You know, overthrow is such a loaded spin word as ... to bring nothing but chuckles."
Gerald Ford and Abraham Lincoln both won their respective nominations despite coming in with fewer votes than their opponents, he added, so it wouldn't be the first time that the candidate who comes out of a convention is the one who didn't win the most votes during the primaries.
"When we arrive in Cleveland, I'm going have a bunch of delegates," he said. "Donald's going have a bunch of delegates. And it's going be a battle to see who can earn the support of a majority of the delegates elected by the people."

That’s pretty funny. Good one. Saw it yesterday and liked it.
Well since Trump is winning I’m not going to lose any sleep over it.
The mooks from Soros and Clinton already have that covered.
the one nice thing about Tead Curz, is you don’t have to trash him
he’ll self-destruct for you
According to Cruz’s father, the reason Ted Cruz is running for the presidency is because after a two-hour session of prayer, Heidi supposedly received “a prophetic word” from God that said, “Seek God’s face, not his hand.”
Based on this, Ted Cruz and company “surrendered” to the Almighty’s greenlight.
If this word did come from the Lord, which I highly doubt, I would not consider it to be a go ahead to run for office. In fact, it sounds more like God wanting Cruz to seek him on a personal level, NOT to enlist His hand in accomplishing it.
One thing is for certain, Ted Cruz has done even more damage to his spiritual life than he has his public life. And both is extremely serious.
He’s a liar. Trump is not making the foreigners and commies riot.
Just more steps from the liberal playbook Cruz is using.
Cruz isn’t exactly the conservative people say he is.
I don’t think Cruz voters are a problem for Trump. Most Cruz people see Trump as a worthy second choice, for one. (The never-Trump folks are mostly GOPe and can be ignored).
Secondly, since Trump is leading in popular vote and delegate count, if he wins there is no loss of face for the average Cruz guy to back the convention winner.
Its the reverse case that is the problem. If Cruz wins a contested convention through skillful guerrilla in-fighting, he has the problem that he can’t win in November without the whole-hearted support of Trump supporters, and he isn’t going to get that unless he is seen to have won fair-and-square, and essentially has Trump’s blessing. That isn’t going to be forthcoming in any likely scenario, Trump himself would have to believe that Cruz, with fewer delegates, has beat him fair and square. Fat chance.
So that is Cruz’s challenge if he wants a fight on the convention floor. He has proved that he knows how to manage a fight skillfully. But winning it without alienating the very people whose support he needs, that is a tough hurdle.
I don’t see how he does it. I am a Cruz guy, as you may have gathered, and I don’t see how he threads that needle.
I think Trump has it. Since I like Trump, I don’t think losing to him is a bad thing. I keep figuring the two camps will have it sorted out before the convention. If they don’t, while Cruz is good at in-fighting, Trump has the ultimate “trump” card, which is the personal loyalty his people have for him. Cruz’s supporters support him based on a principle, but it isn’t personal in the way it is for Trump people. That biases it toward Trump. I don’t think Cruz can win.
That video was exceptional in every way!
A word from God to run isn’t a promise you will win.
Its a bigger game than that.
Though these two men (Trump and Cruz) are in the throes of a tough fight, I believe God has his hand on both men. Though Trump doesn’t seem to be a particularly spiritual man, he like Cruz has made himself available to be used by God. God doesn’t use perfect men, he uses available men.
This guy just can’t stop lying.
If Cruz actually believed what he was saying, he would suspend his campaign for the good of the nation.
The smartest lawyer who ever lived continues to display an almost total lack of common sense and good judgment in what he chooses to say in this campaign.
Make it seem like Trump wants riots if Cruz overthrows the will of the people and uses the eGOP to squeeze him into the nomination.
His handlers know that he probably can't beat Hillary, and if it looks like he would (if he is the one to go against her) he will have to pull back ala McCain and Romney to let Hillary win.
eGOP is so proud of helping elect a black president two times, now are going for the trifecta with the criminal life-destroying (see Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky, Juanita Broderick) murdering—well maybe accessory w/Obama— (+ Ron Brown and Vince Foster for starters)adultery enabling Mrs Bill Jefferson Clinton.
Oh and BTW Trump people don't have to be encouraged to protest the slimy tactics of the eGOP and Ted Cruz if he steals the nomination from the people.
Trump has only acknowledged the state of the loyal voters if they are ignored.
More blame game flame starting announcements by Cruz.
“1/2 of the votes are from Texas and Oklahoma””1.5 -1.8 million votes spread out among states that are solidly republican.”
I like what you did with the numbers. I never thought about it in those terms. You’re right..he brings nothing to the table as VP. He would be a serious drag in swing states; I know he would hurt Trump’s chances in Florida.
“Trump has only acknowledged the state of the loyal voters if they are ignored.”
Trump had no choice but to acknowledge what his supporters would do. We all saw the writing on the wall. He needed to put a shot across their bow to back them off.
Share, share, share!!!
great quote from a Sundance article:
-—However, the type of anger held by our ideological opponents, is intensely toxic and dangerous and they dont care who gets damaged as they self-destruct.

I think this is really what is going on. This was written before this latest episode of Cruz. I imagine this is not the last effort of destruction by Cruz.

I thought Trump was at 1002?
