Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said in an interview airing Sunday that GOP front-runner Donald Trump may encourage riots if he does not win the Republican nomination in Cleveland this summer.
Asked on CBS' "Face the Nation" if he was concerned about the possibility of violence if he were able to "overthrow" Trump with the delegates in Cleveland, Cruz insisted there wouldn't but said that Trump might try to fan the flames.
"No, it won't, although Donald may do everything he can to encourage riots," he said. "You know, overthrow is such a loaded spin word as ... to bring nothing but chuckles."
Gerald Ford and Abraham Lincoln both won their respective nominations despite coming in with fewer votes than their opponents, he added, so it wouldn't be the first time that the candidate who comes out of a convention is the one who didn't win the most votes during the primaries.
"When we arrive in Cleveland, I'm going have a bunch of delegates," he said. "Donald's going have a bunch of delegates. And it's going be a battle to see who can earn the support of a majority of the delegates elected by the people."

As he said, Cruz was about to hit a “rough patch” a couple of weeks ago, an understatement worthy of the Iron Lady herself.
They're not genuine conservatives, no matter how many times their preferred candidate can use "Jesus" in a sentence. Conservatism is, first and foremost, a philosophy of personal responsibility. These posters don't want to take responsibility for their own votes, come November; they demand that you make their votes YOUR responsibility.

Great post. How many times can you ask yourself, what the hell is wrong with this guy? This is beyond being desperate. He is crazy, there is no other explanation for his behavior. Seriously. I feel sorry for his daughters.

Ted is inciting it by saying that...just like the liberal media, oh, and Johnny Kasich with his ‘when you live in negativity” or however he said it in regards to the ‘protesters’ in Costa Mesa.
And I am getting damned sick and tired of Cruz being smeared and his supporters being trashed because they don't trust Donald Trump and don't want him as POTUS.
You have a right to your opinion but so do I.
If Trump is the nominee and you want him to even have a chance to win the general election- It would be a good idea for you and the rest of his supporters disbanded your membership in TBBB- Known from here on out as Trump's Bridge Burning Brigade.

I think you are right about that Wendle. And, it will be more than just a couple of weeks.
I think he has a lot more tied up in this mentally, emotionally and spiritually than most people are aware of. His entire LIFE has ridden on this moment, everything he is, and everything he ever thought he could/would be.
This man has severe mental issues, and it’s beginning to become apparent to the average person who isn’t particularly sensitive to this kind of problem. If the non-sensitive are seeing it loud and clear, then it’s time to RUN from this guy. Don’t walk, RUN. Focus yur energy on a doable, positive result.
That’s how the party would be ‘united’.

The important goal, the real goal, is to beat Hillary. The odds of that decrease every day that Cruz stays in the race and forces trump to campaign against him. It deletes time, energy, strategy, focus.
I do not know how essential it is to have Cruz’s supporters. If they could take their votes back, I bet at least 1/3 to 1/2 of them likely would. So we are talking about a few million votes.
Of that few million, more than 1/2 of the votes are from Texas and Oklahoma (1.5 million). Trump wins both states easily.
So really Ted has about 1.5 -1.8 million votes spread out among states that are solidly republican.
Cruz brings little to the table in terms of voters. He loses very badly, every county and congressional district in every single swing state. Trump wins those.
What votes can Cruz bring from any state that Trump needs?
