Which begs the question: Who is he going to pick as his vice presidential nominee?
The short answer: No one knows. Trump relishes being unpredictable so trying to game out how this most unconventional of politicians will make his mind up is a bit of a guessing game. Add to that the fact that Trump's inner circle remains, largely, devoid of establishment types and you quickly get into a situation where the people talking don't know much and the people who do know aren't talking.

Trump should make the VP into “The Apprentice”:
Twelve people looking for their dream job just a heartbeat away from the presidency. One gets ‘fired’ every week while George and Ivanka (still breast-feeding ‘Cryin’ Ted’) judge their performances after they are split into two teams (Conservative vs Moderate? Republican vs Democrat? Tea Party vs Elite?) and made to do demeaning tasks like going to foreign funerals or brushing aside uberaggressive female reporters...
Special Guest commentary provided by Al Gore and Dick Cheney.
This would be a ratings bonanza. And there’s nothing Hillary could do to top it.
I’d like to see him pick Alan West.
Or Tancredo. Wouldn’t THAT explode Lib’s heads?! LOL
Or how about Judge Janine Pirro? She’s not only smart, fearless, Conservative but beautiful to boot!
Absolutely agree! I posted on #49 about Joni Ernst for the reason I said. But, again, I agree, Allen West would be a fantastic choice!
Wouldn't that be Huma’s job.
First of all, besides the Nancy Pelosi on the sofa ad, pimping Toffler's books, etc., Newtie has been married three times and the stories about the divorces make Trump look like a monk. Then there are all of the old lefty anti-Newtie ads that can be resurrected. Need I ago on? REALLY ?
Huckabee is just Bill Clinton without the sex scandals! Remember the criminals he had released? His son torturing dogs in the woods, how he talked about eating ROADKILL?
Yes...AGE DOES MATTER and both men are far too old!
Trump will win Ga. and Ark. so WHAT DOES EITHER MAN BRING TO THE TICKET?
Good grief......THINK before you post!
Fantasizing is fun, but Trump’s best bet is a strongly conservative guy with credibility among conservative Republicans who has been successful in DC but has been out of office a bit (thus avoiding the odious stink of the modern Republicans), and preferably hails from a swing state.
A one term Congressman who was run out of office? I like West, too, but that won’t pay the bills.
I don’t know who this candidate could be, but if you consider SC a swing state (and I really don’t - if Trump can’t win SC on his own, it’s going to be an early night), Jim DeMint would be a fine, stabilizing, and sober choice.
I've never seen that show, but that doesn't matter; it's NOT a funny nor clever idea...just a stupid one.
In other words, he's going to have to be more like Reagan, who picked Bush, than Goldwater who hunted for an obscure congressman whose views were the same as his own.
Or Tancredo. Wouldnt THAT explode Libs heads?! LOL
Tancredo wins Trump nobody who isn't already with him and loses him voters who might be persuaded to give Trump a chance.
Or how about Judge Janine Pirro? Shes not only smart, fearless, Conservative but beautiful to boot!
As a celebrity and political amateur, Trump needs somebody who's not a celebrity with little Washington political experience.
You’re right, of course. I was just dreaming. :)
For a political site, I am constantly SHOCKED by how very LITTLE so many posters know about politics, American political history, and history of any kind. :-(
I know. I’m just dreaming. :)
But other than that, you are correct.
I’d LOVE to see Jeanine in trump’s administration, though; perhaps there’s a place for her and we’ll both be happy about it. :-)
Well said.
He could be thinking, why do I need anybody? I can consult with myself while remaining unpredictable. A double win. If I die, Ryan is standing by as backup, but it really wouldn’t matter to me at that point.
Yeah. i love her.
Another so-called “writer” who doesn’t know what “to beg the question” means.
If you arent a troll you really do know nothing. Im not insulting you... I can tell by your comments: You know nothing about Newt. Ypu know nothing about Huckabee. Picking a VP because ot will get you a couple percent (maybe) for 1 out of 50 states is amateur thinking. The divorce with Newt means nothing in 2016 especially when running against the Clintons who adulter and have a history of rape, sexual assault and defamation of innocent women. Worrying about age, their home state and the other issues you mentioned dont matter. These are the things the amateurs think matter, that cnn might float out to fill air time...
Also looked that way from my view. Had big hopes with her. Now my woman Congresscritter, Mimi Walters, turned out the same way. I'm voting Greg Raths.
Trump is on his third wife, so is Newtie, which makes SIX wives all together and if you don't believe that Hillary and her people would make a BIG deal over that, your last working brain cell just died! And Newtie's divorces were done when BOTH of those wives were in the hospital/very ill with CANCER, which plays nicely into Hillary's phony WAR AGAINST WOMEN. Her husband's serial adultery gets easily cancelled out !
Only a political naif would claim that age and state are irrelevant re a VEEP choice! Newt is OLDER than Trump! In 8 years, he'll be 82. Do you imagine that an EIGHTY-TWO year old is going to be able to run for the presidency...or even want to?
And whilst lots of people like to claim that Trump is a "liberal", which he isn't, Newt has a LOT of crazy lefty ideas and positions!
HAVE YOU EVER READ ANY OF THE BOOKS BY TOFFLER?
I have and before Newt started pimping them. They're NUTSY and ridiculous, but dear Newtie was all in for the crap in the trilogy that THE THIRD WAVE is but one of three of them.
Unlike YOU, I don't ever post about things I don't know anything/very little ab out. I suggest that you follow my lead. Then you will keep yourself from looking as foolish as you do now.
