Donald Trump may be the only Republican presidential candidate who can realistically hit the magic 1,237 number for the majority of delegates, but according to a senior Republican National Committee official that does not mean he will become the GOP presidential nominee.
"Even if Trump reaches the magic number of 1,237 the media and RNC are touting, that does not mean Trump is automatically the nominee," Haugland said. "The votes earned during the primary process are only estimates and are not legal convention votes. The only official votes to nominate a candidate are those that are cast from the convention floor."

Good luck with that Haugland.
Your days as a Republican National Committee “official” are very numbered.

Candidates could save a lot of money. Don’t spend any during the campaign, get very few delegates, then go to the convention on fire and win the nomination.

He owns a small energy related company. Something to do with flare gas recovery. Wonder if anyone on the board can pee in his business Wheaties.

Curley Haugland, based on his attire, he needs
to be invited to a friendly necktie party at the
back of the convention hall.
Fix him up nice and stylish, guaranteed.

Haugland is only saying that the delegates have to formally vote at the convention before we truly officially have a nominee. Thats all. Its another attempt to manipulate by the MSM. what happens if a "delegate for Trump" is a GOPE hack? What if he doesn't show at the convention to cast a vote mandated for Trump?
Trump needs to make sure he gets every delegate he can, WELL in excess of the 1237, to forestall any attempts at cheating.

From the article quote:
“The only official votes to nominate a candidate are those
that are cast from the convention floor.”
This guy is just playing games to stir the pot in that he is
correct that no one is the OFFICIAL nominee until the
convention vote reaches 1237 for someone.

Clickbait. We get it: not all delegates are bound, no count matters until three floor vote.

If the GOPe does note elect Trump after he has achieved the 1237 (heck even if he gets close), The GOPe will become the GOPi (as in Irreverent) The delegates THINK they have all this power. They either do their duty or the GOP ceases to exist in 2016. Trump has the momentum to go independent and take out both the Dems and Repubs. Keep talking Haglund. Keep wishing Cruzers. Watch the GOP party vaporize.
To: Fai Mao
No, they are not “legally” bound. Obligated by agreement between state and national parties but not bound by law.

I’ll stick by my worst-case scenario, only up the number. If the nomination is stolen from Trump, and at this point it would be stealing the nomination, at least one million Trump supporters would make their way to Cleveland. We’d be mad as *ell. I wouldn’t be surprised if the nearby towns don’t have some strategies in place if that happens, to the point that nearby police and fire won’t be all that available for Cleveland during the convention.
