Tabloid says it has proof: Ted Cruz’s father is mystery man in Lee Harvey Oswald photo
Miami Herald ^ | April 22, 2016

WASHINGTON -- The National Enquirer has published what it says is conclusive evidence that Ted Cruz’s father, Rafael B. Cruz, is the man photographed next to JFK assassin Lee Harvey Oswald distributing pro-Castro leaflets in 1963 in New Orleans.

The Cruz presidential campaign fired back unequivocally. “This is another garbage story in a tabloid full of garbage,” communications director Alice Stewart told McClatchy. “The story is false; that is not Rafael in the picture.”

The explosive suggestion that Cruz’s father would have had any affiliation with Oswald is not corroborated in any other way. Cuban-born Rafael Cruz is now a fervent anti-communist, but there was a time he supported then-rebel leader Fidel Castro. His son, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, frequently relates his father’s arrest and torture by government officials and subsequent escape to the United States.

The elder Cruz ended up at the University of Texas at Austin and still supported Castro, who led the revolution that overthrew the Batista regime in 1959. Castro formally declared himself Marxist in 1961.

“The U.S. government was duped. The American people were duped. I was duped,” Rafael Cruz wrote in his book, “A Time for Action,” released in January. “When people ask me why I supported Castro in over-throwing the Cuban government, I readily admit that I didn’t realize he was a communist.”

Whoa to the first two. Why don’t we know any of these things? Too many questions for someone who ran for President and is still sort of in the picture.

1. My overall riding concern after reading those timelines is: OUR COUNTRY CEASES TO EXIST IF WE CEASE TO FOLLOW OUR CONSTITUTION.

We need to openly vet our candidates for all offices out of respect for the People, to make sure they are openly and clearly eligible. It doesn’t take much. Any confusion in documentation should be dealt with openly in front of We, the People, or the person should not run for office. No sealing the eligibility documents (even the parents’ if they apply).

Too many times, a “ruling establishment and its media,” not a legal authority, has suppressed, Alinsky-style, any questioning from a worried populace. We have a right to be clearly shown a candidate’s eligibility.

2. Were Ted Cruz’s parents ever married? How do these people get divorced without getting married? (Obama’s parents did the same! Don’t any record sources check? I need to find a wealthy man and “divorce” him then.)

3. If indeed that was Ted’s father in the picture with Oswald, Ted must have known. For him to have known that, and run for our President without mentioning or explaining away that contact would mean either he is really stupid or really devious. I don’t know if that was him but if it is, Ted should be forced to explain how he was too stupid to know about it or that he wanted to hide it from We, the People. What else is he hiding? What about the girls with bars over their eyes? Any more secrets??

I want to write an editorial about this being the most revealing election in America’s history.

If you haven’t started yet, please do so. First it was Jeb Bush running that opened my eyes to the Bush family secrets and evils. Then I turned my research over to the Clintons. Insanity that she is considered a worthy candidate for ANYTHING other than a penitentiary. And the first candidate we thought had our best interests at heart, Ted Cruz, has been found out to be a selfish phony televangelist who has our destruction all planned.

Yes. Just about everything Ted chooses to say reflects on HIS OWN CHARACTER, no matter whom he’s knocking at the time.

He chose to say that even though Trump is a rat, still, he doesn’t desire to copulate with him. He chose to say that. I mess up when I speak, but that sentence never comes out of my mouth.

I have spent over an hour reading the Cruz time line...in the end the fact that both parents were Canadian citizens on the approved voter roll makes me think he is a man with no country...he gave up the Canadian citizenship!

They did not file a request for citizenship for child born abroad...they must have not felt being an American was not important...or possible?

Haven't we learned our lesson with “O”?

There is just constant things that make me uncomfortable about Cruz.

I don't think the photos with Oswald look like Cruz's dad. But this one that is definitely Cruz's dad with the Bautista sign does show him with the same hairline as the other man with Oswald. Though the man with Oswald looks Hispanic. Cruz's dad does not. Posting it for what it's worth. I hope it isn't true because it would really hurt my faith in humanity.

One day I was strolling past that very spot in downtown New Orleans where that very photo was taken. A group of people—in town for a convention, as it turned out—was standing in a circle, silent, heads bowed prayerfully, staring intently at something on the sidewalk.
Curiosity overwhelmed me, so I elbowed my way into the circle to discern the object of their awe.
It was a cockroach.
A huge, shiny, black B-52 dive bomber of a New Orleans cockroach, comatose but still alive, wiggling his nasty little feets languorously in the heat.
They’d never seen anything like it. They were Yankees.
All eyes turned to me for an answer.
So I told them, “Welcome to New Orleans!” and proceeded to inform them that they were standing on theeee verrrry spot where Lee Harvey Oswald had handed out his famous Fair Play for Cuba leaflets.
“Really?” said a saucer-eyed blonde woman, in a half-whisper.
“Yep,” I said, and, pointing at the cockroach, “and that’s him. Reincarnated and back in his hometown. Try not to step on him, hear? We’re very protective of our local celebrities.”
I was halfway down the block before those dumb Yankees realized they had been had.

“...born in New Orleans. He lived in at least nine different locations...”

One time I was drinking beer with some folks in an upstairs apartment on State Street, above a trendy coffee house.
The apartment had a weird vibe, so I asked my friends if there was a ghost.
They said their landlady had told them little Lee Harvey had lived there as a lad of seven, with his mother Marguerite and brother Robert.

There are still a bunch of his mother’s relatives in New Orleans.

His brother Robert now lives in Wichita Falls, Texas. His widow Marina is in Texas, remarried. His two daughters, June and Rachel, who were babies in November 1963, prefer not to be found.

Both Rafaels raise questions that are not easily answered.

A. Who paved Cruz’s way into Princeton & Harvard? Who paid? Without connections it’s very hard to gain acceptance. He did not come from the typical prep school. Hispanic foreign Canadian status? He hasn’t whined about paying off student loans. Someone had to help Cruz land SCOTUS clerkships. Has there been an invisible hand behind Ted due to his father’s past?... Daddy Bush?

B. Rafael B. Cruz is an interesting character. Most Cubans, especially those his age, express bitter deep hatred and anger towards Fidel Castro. They have family and friends that Fidel imprisoned, tortured or murdered. Repression and communism destroyed their lives. Castro seized all their assets - homes, property, businesses, banks, cars, and personal wealth. They lost their freedom to speak freely, object, assemble, travel, etc... they lost everything and they will curse Castro as long as they live.

The Cubans lucky enough to escape Castro, never went back. Certainly Cruz would have been receiving very negative news back from Cuba from his family and friends. Yet he claims that he returned in 1959.

1) Cruz’s passage to America is odd. It only makes sense that he was very pro-Castro and sent specifically to Texas to live among other Cuban communist exile students. If Cruz had been protesting in Miami, his life would have been cut short. Para-military groups were training in the Florida Everglades with plans to overthrow Castro and liberate Cuba. Omega 66 and other factions would have eliminated Cruz.

2) Aliases. His explanation for dropping his family name tied to his Spanish heritage is not so common.

3) How does a foreign teenager get immediate acceptance to a Texas University? Who pays the tuition, room & board? How did he get from Key West to Texas? Someone made lots of arrangements for Cruz.

4) Cruz speaks Spanish, how does he complete university level studies and graduate in four years.

5) What happened to Cruz’s family in Cuba- parents, siblings, cousins? Did any eventually emigrate?

6) The Cuban community sticks together like glue. Cubans fled to Florida - Miami, Orlando, Tampa. A Cuban teenager alone in Texas is quite the anomaly. One article mentions that there were five Cubans at UT, they must have been planted together, right there, for a reason.

7) Canada. There was lots of oil exploration centered right underneath Cruz’s feet, in Texas. Cruz left Texas for some other reason. (Draft evasion-bigamy-other)

8) Did Rafael resume his seismic-computer career in Texas after he sold his company in Canada.

This ole dog don’t hunt.

He wrote and signed a letter to the newspaper with the other 6 Cuban students. The letter protested USA policy towards Cuban refugees. He didn’t want the USA to accept any Cuban pro-Baptista refugees. He wanted their blood. He wanted Castro to try them like “common criminals”. There’s no doubt that is Rafael Cruz.

I agree the Oswald one is not as clear cut, but it was four years later and there really weren’t that many pro-Castro Cubans in the States at the time. Both had lived in New Orleans in the 60’s. When he was at the University of Texas, there were only 15 Cubans altogether. 6 participated in the rally, including Cruz.

We don’t have a good timeline for Cruz like everything else about the man. I’m sure the FBI does though, since he was a foreign student participating in anti-American rallies.

“Whoever he is, he is dressed like Oswald”

White shirt and a skinny black tie was the standard cultural issue back in that day.

Thanks Lazamataz. Even if he had been in New Orleans and taken a brochure, that wouldn't mean much, as he'd already have escaped from Cuba and the torture and turned against Castro. Also, no one (including Oswald) had any idea what would happen in November '63. The Wikimedia photo of Castro has numbers written above other men in the photo there, so the Warren Commission probably had identified them, or their law enforcement sources had.

August 16, 1963 - Lee Harvey Oswald passing out Fair Play for Cuba leaflets in New Orleans

Maj. Gen. Edwin A. Walker, an active and controversial figure on the American political scene since his resignation from the U.S. Army in 1961, narrowly escaped death when a rifle bullet fired from outside his home passed near his head as he was seated at his desk. There were no eyewitnesses, although a 14-year-old boy in a neighboring house claimed that immediately after the shooting he saw two men, in separate cars, drive out of a church parking lot adjacent to Walker's home. A friend of Walker's testified that two nights before the shooting he saw "two men around the house peeking in windows." [The Walker Assassination Attempt]

I am sure the CIA must have a file on Rafael Cruz, or whomever he was at the time. His pro-Castro sentiments explain why he was not resettled in the Cuban communities; Rafael =Shark food. So they settled the communist pro-Castro men in Texas or New Orleans.

Rafael’s entire timeline is suspect. It’s amazing he began college studies without understanding English and graduated in four years.

No he didn’t really escape Castro’s Cuba. He sounds very pro-Castro and it appears that remained of that sentiment during his early adulthood. He maintained his Cuban citizenship for 15 years after leaving Cuba.

His vocal pro Castro communist sentiment is why Rafael was not resettled among 150,000 of his countrymen in Miami, Orlando, or Tampa. His port of entry was Key West and he was taken to Houston, Texas.

So anything anti-Trump is zotted, but you use FR to post the basest of allegations regarding Trump's opponents and their families?

Exactly how to you expect to bring voters to your camp when you slander those they supported?

I see the reality of the situation, Trump has the momentum, and Kasich and Cruz are engaged in a backfire operation to keep Trump from reaching 1237.
