Donald Trump is complaining that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) is racking up voterless victories in states such as Colorado and Wyoming, where delegates are chosen by a small handful of elites who are sidelining Republican voters.
This is dead wrong. In both Colorado and Wyoming, all registered Republican voters in the state had the chance to vote and participate in the delegate selection process.
The Wyoming Republican Party website explains the process clearly: Delegates to the state convention are elected by the county conventions. Delegates to the county convention are elected by precinct caucuses in their respective counties. Any person registered to vote Republican as of the call for precinct caucuses in a given precinct may vote in that precincts caucus (emphasis added).
In other words, there is a whole lot of voting going on. All Republicans in Wyoming had the chance to go to their precinct and vote for delegates who support their preferred candidate. And they did so in record numbers. In Laramie County, for example, the lines ran out the door on Super Tuesday, and turnout was up almost 400 percent compared with 2012. The lines outside, they are amazing, said Glen Chavez, a first-time caucus-goer. If youve never taken part in something like this, get involved. If you want to make the difference, you make the change.
The same was true for Colorado. Under Article XII of the Colorado Republican Partys bylaws, any person who is a resident of a precinct for 30 days and is a registered voter affiliated with the Republican Party for at least two months can vote in a precinct caucus. Any such person can also run for delegate.

A 'chance' to vote? Sounds like a lottery.
Anything The Donald says is true.
I don’t see anyone complaining about Wyoming
The Colorado Innocculation
Trump cleverly used the Colorado rules change situation that denied him any delegates as a warning to the party for the convention. Trumps Wall Street Journal article about Colorado was perfect because it primed voters to be touchy about any future shenanigans. The party has been warned.
The Colorado situation is a perfect fit for Trumps story. Trump is trying to break the system at the same time the system is acting rigged right in front of our eyes.

This is what Scott Adams described as "ritualistic placebo voting." Its function is to fool caucus attendees into believing that they're actually deciding something.
Translation: The party activists, a relatively small number of insiders, will decide who the nominee is. As someone who has been engaged at the local level in GOP politics, including being a delegate at several state conventions, this is the way the GOPe maintains control over the process. We can debate the pros and cons of doing so, but to assert that these are the results of some sort of democratic process is nonsense. The rules are made to ensure GOPe control over the process.
Nailed it. Had Trump “played by the rules” in CO and WY, no one would be talking about the rigging of voterless elections. GOPe is being hoisted on their own petard. Cruz is winning battles but losing the war.
The people voted. They elected representatives to choose delegates. Trump’s campaign botched the conventions.
It may give him a majority!
The Cheap Labor Express has had an amnesty candidate nominated in every election since the last amnesty.
This time we are seeing how they have done that in the past.

Isn’t that something we would like for our Country? I mean really, why can’t the Tediban see how good Donald Trump will be for the country? Even if they are comfortable GOPee hacks, they have to have some feeling for the country at large, don’t they? Well, maybe not. ;-)
Anything The Donald says is true.
Thanks.....I forgot.....
Their lies don't work anymore...
.... However ..... If what he is doing is illegal then Cruz definitely must go. BUT .... If he is just playing a better ground game, then Trump has to step up his game and adapt his own strategies to counter the opposition.
.... Heck .... Judging by his business acumen .... I am sure Mr. Trump is a good chess player ...... so it's time for a few fancy ground game chess moves of his own.
... How can one compete effectively if that person doesn't understand the rules?
Hey nate, are you suggesting what occurred in Colorado was not tailor made for those motivated to manipulate elections?
Are you suggesting what occurred in Colorado’s caucus/delegate system a few days ago was principled, above board, legitimate and honorable? Really?
Still think there’s a big shoe to drop there. Think John Edwards.
