Presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz pledges to stand up for fair trade in a new state-wide Wisconsin ad hitting on international trade deals, a signature issue of frontrunner Donald Trumps campaign.
Free trade is generally seen as a globalist policy in which restrictions on imports and exports are kept to an absolute minimum. Fair traders, on the other hand, argue that purely free trade can have negative consequences for the citizens of a particular country, especially when it comes to wages and employment opportunities for the lower and middle classes. They recommend that sovereign nations negotiate and implement trade deals that prioritize their own people first. This debate has been a centerpiece of the 2016 primary season as both political parties have seen populist factions revolt against their respective establishments over what they view as unfair free trade deals.
Cruz, speaking directly to the camera, says:
Wisconsin is a beautiful place where the people place solutions over slogans.
Our campaign is for the working moms, the truck drivers, the mechanics, and the machinists with calluses on their hands. Its for the farmers and factory workers and the families who worry about prices going up while paychecks stay flat. Its for the young people coming out of school unable to find a job.
Im going to stand up for fair trade, and bring our jobs back from China.
We will see wages going up. Well see opportunity again.
Well see a President who will stand with the people of Wisconsin, and Americans everywhere.
This is a significant change in policy and rhetoric for Cruz away from Republican partys limitless trade orthodoxy.

Surrounded by liberals masquerading as Trump Republicrats.
Want to hunt but want gun control
Want social services but vote down the ballot proposals
Want good jobs but shop at Walmart and hire illegals to mow their grass.
“Michigan”
You must know that in Detroit, at least in it’s hay day, nothing happened without taking care of the politicians and if you wanted to be a player, you “fit in” with the social norms.
..good observation LO--just like the idea about The Wall...
Name calling, the tea party group on fb as soon as the campaign started called anyone not supporting sCruz names, they called Trump names. I had long conversations with a couple of them and they admitted they were on the campaign.
Their belief is chase everyone away who doesn’t suooprt sCruz.
We were talking about Duncan Hunter, the dad.
I like the son, as well, but he doesn’t seem to have the wisdom of his dad, imo.
I loved the dad’s great instincts, and knowledge, on the China threat, and not just about China’s unfair trade practices.
Read my post. I didn’t say anything about 9 or 5 years ago.
Sounds like Cruz campaign workers here.
Goodness “fair trade” is a stupid leftist anti market concept that liberals use.
The fact that “conservatives” are using the term “fair trade” shows how economically illiterate the movement has become
New Fox poll, 58% in WI REFUSE to vote for sCruz.

Trade is an issue Trump purloined from Cruz anyway, like most of his issues.
Cruz is the real thing, Trump is the knock-off cheap copy.
.
Sessions knows who is for real on the issue.
That’s very interesting and I appreciate your first-hand account. When Cruz stepped to the mic that night I thought this is his moment in history to cement his reputation as a Constitutionalist. I was astounded at his weaselly political expediency. Good point re Trump shining a light on the underbelly. Things will never be the same.
.
Trump got all of his script from Cruz’ speeches in 2011.
.
.
The lies are all on the Trump script.
Cruz is the original item.
.
Whoa... Nice find on the quote. I love little gems like that. :)
Why didn’t the conservative base rally around hunter when he ran? I supported Hunter. We ended up with McCain and I held my nose.
Cruz is no Hunter but he’s better than Trump.
Want to hunt but want gun control
I used to hunt years ago; I don’t believe a semi-automatic rifle is needed for hunting; I also know that if we give up semi’s, it’s a step to full gun control.
Want social services but vote down the ballot proposals
I don’t understand the question
Want good jobs but shop at Walmart and hire illegals to mow their grass.
I shop at Walmart, what does that have to do with anything? Do you shop at Walmart?
Oh absolutely there are sCruz campaign workers here in droves, and democrat opertives to slam our front runners.
One election we had a poster that wad posting 24/7 I mean really. Someone posted his lists and he got ZOTTED.
What you fail to understand is Trump has to do business in the city. So he has to get along and play nice.
.
If you want what Trump offers, you have to vote for Cruz to get it, as he invented it, and knows how to do it.
Trump is a Cruz copy on 75% of what he says.
Go back to when the campaign started and read those threads.
Cruz = Real, Trump = Fake.
