Chris Christie is looming large behind the scenes of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, coaching him before the last GOP debate and lining up policy experts, donors and big-name backers, according to a report Friday.

The New Jersey governor is far more than just a high-profile supporter and has become one of Trump’s most trusted advisers, NJ.com reported.

“Christie is clearly making the transition from endorser to enabler and positioning himself to be a major player in the Trump camp,” David Kennedy, a presidential historian, told NJ.com.

Edward Newton, who vetted Christie when he was considered a possible running mate for Mitt Romney in 2012, said the fact that Christie was coaching Trump shows how high his star has risen.

I could NEVER ACCEPT Kasich as VP, if he chides Kasich I would HAVE TO rethink my Trump vote!!!!! Kasich is absolutely nauseating !!!! He also has a temper that I have seen peaking through his overall demeanor that IS VERY unattractive !!! I do NOT think he and Trump would make a good team!!! We need some more conservative to pick up the reins and move forward turning the progressive agenda back, Kasich is NOT that person!!! Kasich is to the left of Hillary!!!

You know very well that Palin was chosen to offset the very liberal McCain

There are lots of reasons that go in to the selection of a VP. At this point delegates and swing state representation are as good as any

I’m hoping for Duncan Hunter Jr. Good age (for the next 8 years as Prez after Trump), photogenic (good looking, like his old man is), intelligent, good speaker, was in the military and saw action, from large western State (CA)so not another Easterner, has already endorsed Trump, a great all around choice.

I can live with Christie as VP—he is also strong and bullish.

If Trump wants to obtain any credibility and knowledge he will beg Newt Gingrich to be his running mate. Chris Christie is a non -starter.

>>Freepers think hard.<<

You want a VP who will not undo everything you stand for, in case something happens. You certainly don’t want a power-mad SOB like LBJ or a backstabber like GHWB. You want an asset, not a liability like a Biden.

Trump needs someone who loves America; probably from Texas, Florida or California. His VP candidate must be able to stand up to the Democrats on the issues. Names - ??, think OUTSIDE of the box.

Kasich or Krispy or any other bake-the-cake non-social-conservative will be all it takes for me to bail on the Trump ticket.

Having a new-york non-conservative and a rino VP would be the death of social conservationism as a political force, and that would head the country in a bad direction (IMO). Electing Shillary does the same thing only democrats get credit for the train-wreck.

Trump has gone personal to destroy conservative after conservative... and now he has some bridges to mend. I think he is going to take the base for granted, and I think that in November he is going to come up short because of it. The GOPe will especially love it because they won’t be the fall-guy this time.

There is absolutely no reason for Trump to run with someone from Texas or California.

California is structurally impossible for the GOP to win (white minority state). No GOP Californian can change that fact.

Texas? If Trump can’t win red state Texas all by himself he’s losing in a landslide anyhow.

Florida - sure. It’s a swing state. If someone can help him there, that may be a sound choice. I would prefer, however, that he aim for the rust belt instead.

I agree with you about policy etc., just not street style which offends a lot of people who are in Trump’s camp, but think street style not presidential.

I don’t like Christie as anything, except perhaps compost for a garden. He is a loud mouthed turd.

Ralph Torres would be interesting. Maybe not a winning ticket but interesting.

I was jokingly suggesting Eddie Calvo the governor of Guam but he endorsed Cruz.

I wonder about eligibility though.

“The same folks that have chastized Christie for the last 2 years now love him because he’s joined at the hip with Trump.

You all know who you are.”

And all the Cruz fans who can’t see the long line of open border supporters lined up behind him, are ok with more illegals and forever losing this nation.

We all know who YOU are.

Trump would lose my vote. Christie is anti gun. Trump needs to balance the ticket, not make it a NY NJ fest. He can't win the rest of the country. hence the democrats win.

It probably comes down to whether Kasich vets out clean, because Krispy certainly does not; or the scenario where Krispy not vetting is even preferred: the campaign decides it's better to have Krispy in a co-starring role as Emmanuel Goldstein to deflect those negatives away from the candidate and onto Krispy.

Because it's not so much about Trump winning Ohio as it is about Hillary not winning Ohio - she has NO path to victory without Ohio.

What is so wrong about pandering to more than half of the electorate when you are trying to win your election?

If it’s pandering, it’s not going really help anyone win. We have to keep going for the best candidate. When there is a woman who fits that description, fine.

The deeper lesson of the women’s rights movement is not to judge people by superficial characteristics. The women who are for Hillary just because she’s a woman are doing exactly that. Palin because she was a woman turned out badly, Obama because he was black was a disaster. Let’s do it right and reap the reward.

Sarah Palin is the best possible, and most qualified candidate for Trump’s Vice-President, regardless of her gender, so the search is over!

TRUMPALIN 2016!
