Chris Christie positions himself to be Trump’s running mate

Chris Christie is looming large behind the scenes of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, coaching him before the last GOP debate and lining up policy experts, donors and big-name backers, according to a report Friday.

The New Jersey governor is far more than just a high-profile supporter and has become one of Trump’s most trusted advisers, NJ.com reported.

“Christie is clearly making the transition from endorser to enabler and positioning himself to be a major player in the Trump camp,” David Kennedy, a presidential historian, told NJ.com.

Edward Newton, who vetted Christie when he was considered a possible running mate for Mitt Romney in 2012, said the fact that Christie was coaching Trump shows how high his star has risen.

I agree on both JK for VP and CC for AG

Florida seems to like Trump. Ohio will be swing state huge. Trump will need it to win.

I don't think that will happen because they are both from the tri-state area and Christie brings no balance to the ticket.

First consideration for the nomination may mean that Trump has to select a VEEP whose delegates can put him over the 1237 mark (probably Kasich...not Cruz).

Second may mean a VEEP who can get the GOPe off his back and bring unity to the party.

Next will be a VEEP who can bring votes from needed areas of the country and/or blocs of voters not already drawn to Trump.

Lastly, if Trump is certain he can win the General...he will select a VEEP who brings strength to his management style and an ability to advise him on matters political (including dealing with Congress).

Open borders, pro-Islam, anti-Second Amendment. The New York Post doesn’t see any problem with CC and Trump. The new GOP, same as the old GOP.

Session will not help in a general election. CC has street smarts and toughness. CC has great TV present. As VP he would be tough and he is the type not to back down from a fight.

Not a good idea. I’m not a big Christie fan, I can see where he might have value in the administration, but VP? No. Too much brash northeastern. He’ll remind all the southerners why they dislike them, lol.

Chris Christie is a parasite.

Don’t let him latch on and suck blood, and he’ll shrivel up and go away.

Well maybe he won’t shrivel up, but he will go away.

It will be interesting to see how Trump does in Pa. and how it changes his thinking on VP.

If Trump goes into the general with decent polling here and Ohio, and a plus margin in Florida, you can see the thing coming together.

And the thought of Cruz in the SCOTUS is a terrible idea as well. He just needs to move on to kstreet or blazetv.

Doubtful two 70-year olds are going to be on the same ticket.

Better question could be, who would Jeff Sessions pick to be Trump’s VP?

Agree. The only purpose of a VP is to help get the ticket elected. Afterwards, the office is defined by the man, not the reverse.

Christie could help Trump win a rust belt state or two, which he will need to make up for possible losses in Hispanic heavy states.

Session would be good to have in the administration, but he brings nothing to the electoral strategy. He might boost a winning margin in an already red state, but who cares?

Swing state victories are all that matters.

Trump has proven himself in the south. CC would not be a minus there. In the general we need NY,NJ and Pa. CC only drawback is he is a Cowboy fan. Though could help in Texas.

That’s why I like Christie as AG. He’s tough.
I get your point, but I don’t think 2 East coast guys help in the general.
