Since Obuma was elected to POTUS, I have been coming to Free Republic to get news, opinions and a few laughs. Most of the serious posts were bemoaning the out of control government and what could be done about it. "Oh Whoa is Me!". Then along comes a constitutional conservative. For the first time since Ronald Reagan, we have a constitutional candidate running for the GOP nomination. This man was elected by conservatives to go to Washington and stand up to the elites that no longer listen to the American people. He didn't go to Washington and "fall in" with the crowd. He went there and stood up to them just like he said it would - calling a spade a spade. I'm sorry, but I don't understand how otherwise intelligent people can fall for the likes of Donald Trump. This man was donating to the same people we were fighting to throw out of office the last eight years. Suddenly he is a conservative after years of joining with the liberals to promote big fat bloated government. He is not an outsider. He has been greasing the palms of the slime bags in Washington for 30 years. He can't even define what conservatism is. Wake up America. You are no better than the sycophants that suck up to Obuma. You can't see that Trump is just pushing your buttons with his rhetoric - just like Obuma pushed his sycophants buttons. The hate I see on Free Republic for Ted Cruz, Mark Levin and all the other great conservative leaders remind me of liberal websites. It is disgusting.
Shhhhhhhh, Don’t tell anybody! ;-)
Absodamnlutely!
TTTT !
I’ve posted over 55,000 replies in 15 years. From this one could surmise I’m an ADHD blabbermouth that doesn’t read the article, much less the thread before posting. One would be partially incorrect. I’m not ADHD. I’m Aspie.
Damn bro.
What you said.
Well said, Windy.
I agree wholeheartedly.
Thank you for your interesting POV from an always-respected FReeper.
I'm a Cruz supporter, myself. If Trump, as you predict, performs pro bono publico without any particular commitment to Originalism, he might yet do "good things" for the country, which if they include battling the international NWO plutocratic movement and the old Communist International which has now given us two _Residents, will be very, very good for us.
One would hope that, if Trump does win the nomination and the White Hut, his OJT will make a convinced Constitutionalist out of him, as he discovers how divided government works against the Socialist conspiracy. Which, after all, is maximally centrist, stifling, bloodthirsty, lobotomizing, and a few other unpleasant and unhelpful things.
As a final note, I would tend to place Trump among the National Greatness Republicans of the past, who were McKinleyites or e-GOP (in modern terms) elitists, in which the "NG" theme is attenuated and the "NWO" theme, under the Bushes, has been accentuated. McKinleyism combined expansive national mercantilist economics with antisyndicalism (union-busting), hard money (the "Cross of Gold"), marketarian solutions and freedom (and crony capitalism), and a big Navy.
Cruz gets his money from the same corporations that Hillary does.
So your argument about Trump greasing the palms in New York to do his business (as is required in corrupt NYC) but Cruz is different somehow is ignorant.
Wow. What a fantastic statement of what's happening in this campaign. You really tie a lot of threads together, beautifully. I totally agree with you on your assessment of these false prophets Cruz and Levin. Love the way you explained the "inside baseball" fights among the conservative media. That's a drama all itself. Somebody should write a book about it. I think Levin is the biggest problem because he is willing to flame his fellow talk show hosts. So he's the disciplinarian of the bunch. Rush is probably afraid to get on the wrong side of Levin, so for this one reason he bends over backward to support Cruz -- knowing that Levin would blow up if he didn't. So this cycle we not are only breaking the Washington DC bubble, but also exposing the cozy cartel and cat fights of the conservative talk show types. I wrote a little satire on FR about the latest Cruz controversy: Time to Eat Those Green Eggs and Ham. And in gratitude for your fine contribution, I hereby bestow on you the H. L. Mencken Iconoclast Award for Distinguished Punditry. Congratulations, ShivaFan. |
Ted Cruz isn't all conservative, if you, as you claim, look at his record. Ted Cruz supports illegal alien amnesty.
TED CRUZ: U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, Hearing, 5/21/13:
"And I'd like to make a final point to those advocacy groups that are very engaged in this issue and rightly concerned about addressing our immigration system and, in particular, about addressing the situation for the 11 million who are currently in the shadows. If this amendment is adopted to the current bill, the effect would be that those 11 million under this current bill would still be eligible for RPI status. They would still be eligible for legal status and indeed, under the terms of the bill, they would be eligible for LPR status as well so that they are out of the shadows, which the proponents of this bill repeatedly point to as their principal objective to provide a legal status for those who are here illegally to be out of the shadows. This amendment would allow that happen, but what it would do is remove the pathway to citizenship so that there are real consequences that respect the rule of law and that treat legal immigrants with the fairness and respect they deserve. And a second point to those advocacy groups that are so passionately engaged. In my view, if this committee rejects this amendment, and I think everyone here views it as quite likely this committee will choose to reject this amendment, in my view, that decision will make it much, much more likely that this entire bill will fail in the House of Representatives. I don't want immigration reform to fail. I want immigration reform to pass. And so I would urge people of good faith on both sides of the aisle, if the objective is to pass common sense immigration reform that secures the borders, that improves legal immigration, and AMNESTY: that allows those who are here illegally to come in out of the shadows. Then we should look for areas of bipartisan agreement and compromised to come together. And this amendment, I believe, if this amendment were to pass, the chances of this bill passing into law would increase dramatically."
Mark Levin is part of the Goldline scam, selling coins at inflated prices far above actual gold prices thereby turning their buyers into coin collectors. He preys on the ignorance of his listeners. That isn't conservative. That's a liberal style ripoff.
what has been apparent for the last month is that the conservative darling with impeccable credentials is scorned by the Republican electorate. He is preferred more than the dry cod wonks of the GOPe but still shunned.
Being shunned by the Republican electorate means with absolute certainty that he will be shunned by the total electorate in a general election.
the problem is not with Free Republic but with the darling candidate.
Charisma and a message of strong forward movement away from the odorous Obama swamp are being shown to be preferable to puritanical conservatism
People seem to want to make America great again
Doesn’t seem Cruz’s mother likes the USA much, since she spent much of her time in England and Canada.
Of course.
Note Oct date passport and death Michael Dec.
The last time some junior Senator who was a Harvard lawyer with a questionable citizenship that claimed to know it all we got Obama. Different party, same attitude.
That date could have been a re-issue. so it’s tough to say anything a about it.
So you want the Cuban-Canadian, VAT tax pushing endorsed by Linda Graham candidate?
